Every now and again a post pops up and we argue about exactly what constitutes a legal need for owning a TV license.
A lot of people think that if you own a TV, you need a TV license. This isn't true.
A TV license is ONLY needed if you watch or record live TV, as it's being broadcast.
If you use your TV for watching DVDs or for your Wii, or if you watch downloads from 4OD or iplayer, a license is unnecessary.
Apart from the fact that putting it in the newsletter might save the few people who've actually bothered to do the research from having to correct people who've fallen for the TVLA propaganda, I think it'd save quite a few people a lot of money.
A lot of us have no interest in watching TV. I literally never watch TV. If there's been something on that I've heard was good, I can go and download it aftwards.
There must be lots of people out there like me (in this respect at least, hehe) but who are paying £140 a year to play their Xbox and watch a few films.

They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Not sure how I missed that.
Thanks for pointing it out.
Edit: Just started reading the thread for that newsletter piece, and I've spoken on that thread! I must be getting old...They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
