Account dispute with t-mobile
Because of (what I thought were!) line rental cashbacks I had an account in credit with T-Mobile for the best part of 2004-2005. In 2005 after ensuring there would be no cancellation charges I transferred two lines and there was still a remaining 80pounds credit which I asked to be settled. After 2 weeks I received a revised final bill for 300odd pounds in which three separate no further specified adjustments appear in the bill. After speaking to them 3 times what I've now been told is that a manual credit done by an operator in early 2004 was incorrect (!) and therefore this is the correct bill.
Now, to be honest, considering all the different cashback, advances by CC, direct debits that went into that account, I have no idea whether they are right or not, no longer have the bills so it's impossible for me to tell, but even if they are, can they claim something like this 20 months after their mistake?
I've asked for a detailed explanation by post, but I just wonder whether the charge is simply not admissable as too long has gone by. It seems mad to me a utility can send you a letter saying "hey, we made mistake two years ago, please send us 500pounds within a week".

Hmm - was wondering whether anyone has anything to add to this, or whether anyone has taken matters forward with cisas: http://www.arbitrators.org/cisas/index.asp0
