Has anyone see any offers for free eye tests. My next eye test is now due and as I am not yet 60, plus I am now only on a occupational pension I have to watch all the pounds and pennies. It seems there were offers of free eye tests earlier this year but I can't find any such offers now??? Are they seasonal perhaps??? I am in the Kingston Upon Thames area so if anyone has seen any such offers would be grateful to hear about them. Thanks money savers.;)

I usually seem to have an offer for D and A when I need one, but a quick skim of their site only shows a half-price sight test offer.
There are various conditions for which you get a free eye test once over 50 if you or one of your immediate family have them - glaucoma is one, so does that help at all?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Two out of every 100 people over 40yrs of age have the potential to develop glaucoma. One of them is having treatment to prevent glaucoma developing - the other one will lose their sight unnecessarily.
Glaucoma does not have any symptoms at all until you have lost most of your sight and then it is too late. The damage to your optic nerve cannot be repaired. An eye test every 2 years is essential for everybody over the age of 40, and for others who have an immediate relative receiving treatment for the condition. During your eye test three simple checks can be made to see whether you are likely to develop glaucoma.
I am one of those 2 in 100 who has been receiving treatment for the last 18 years, and there has been no deterioration in my sight. If I hadn't been having treatment, I could be registered blind by now.
Certainly look out for the free eye tests, but make absolutely sure that you have one!".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -

If you haven't yet ordered them from D&A, remember you don't HAVE to get the prescription made up there, and there are cheaper places!Signature removed for peace of mind0

Cheaper places than D&A on the high street too! I know other people get good results online, but I personally wouldn't want to do that. At least, not until I was confident about what styles to order etc.
But so far I can get by with a pair of off the shelf readers everywhere I'm likely to need one!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
They had free eye tests in my local Tescos (shoreham-by-sea) when i just did the shopping today. Dont know if this is just my store or across the board.Happiness is not having what you want...but wanting what you have!!!0
