Armed Forces Pension into LGPS?
Hi folks, I've just started a new job and have transferred 3 pensions into LGPS. This transfer has earned me circa 14 years... The bit I'm losing sleep over is the fact that I've transfered my RAF pension over! The RAF pension would of paid £2,835 Pa plus 8k grant at 60. The LGPS have offered £6532.90 Pa but does not state…

State Pension; why can't it be paid monthly
Why is the state pension paid 4 weekly rather than monthly. Is it historic that is has to be paid on a Thursday. I, like others I know, I would much rather have their pension paid on a set date each month rather than every 4 weeks. Why can't this be an option for everybody receiving the State Pension. What are other…

Pension Sharing Order - incorrect info approved by court
I'm going around in circles & hope somebody can help me with a problem. Long story short, my ex & I divorced & he set up a pension sharing order on my behalf. Quick sanity check on my figures please
I will have no tax allowance for 2103 as above 116k income. However HMRC did not notify this to employer (I should have checked earlier) so PAYE has used a code giving full allowance. So I assume I will get bill of around 3.7 k when I complete 13/14 tax return. (40% of 9,440 ?) If I contribute 12k to pension before year…

Trivial Pension limit question
My wife, who is 56, works part-time for the NHS and is contributing to her pension with them. They estimate it will pay an income of only around £2,000 per annum if she retires at age 60. I have no idea how much 'value' this pension has or whether it has to be included in the total value of pensions limit of £18,000 for a…

Help get me started on a private pension!
I am currently enrolled in my employers scheme (NEST), and contribute 10% of salary. My employer contributes up to 4%, which I believe happens in the 4th or 5th year of membership. I have an additional £300.00 to invest in a pension fund. I fully expect I will qualify for a full state pension should the current terms…

Missing Pension Contributions
My Company pension contributions have gone haywire. They are normally deducted from my salary but for 2 months no personal or company contributions have been made. I make 10% and company pay 15% so it's quite a lot. I was a bit slow to notice but they are now "looking into it". I'm a bit worried as the end of the tax year…

Telegraph - 25% Under threat.
Probably old news but according to an article on the Telegraph website Pension savers are resigned to losing the 25% lump sum. If that were to happen then I like many would feel robbed, in my case I would probably stop paying into a pension completely and divert my contributions into S&S Isa's. I do wish the parties would…

Contributions to previous tax years?
I know it used to be possible to make contributions and have them considered for a previous tax year. Is this sort of thing still possible? eg: This coming tax year I might creep into the 40% band. If I do I'd be inclined to chuck sufficient into the pension to fully utilise the extra tax relief. However I won't know if I…
