Beef for sarnies + Toddler and fillet steaks
Instead of buying some sliced beef for sarnies I thought it'd be more OS to get some beef myself, cook it and slice it myself. Plus if I do this I can make it thick and juicy! However living with a veggie person means that I dont buy meat that often and I have no knowledge of what a suitable joint or cut would be for this.…

How do you serve dinner
Do you put the food on everyone's plate in the kitchen or serve it in bowls at the table? I used to do the former, but then realised that sometimes I was throwing away food as some days people are hungrier than others, or they don't always like everything on the menu. What I do now is to put everything in bowls on the…

Chocolate Easter egg gone white
What would you do. DS has been given a Mars Bar easter egg. He's cracked it open tonight and the chocolate has gone all white/yellowish...more than the 'bloom' you sometimes get. It doesn't look nice at all. He ate one of the two mars bars with it yesterday and only said that that was white just now when he opened the main…

Anyone convert an OH who is/was non OS ?
My boyfriend is a full time single parent to a daughter of 15. His idea of cooking is to bang a frozen shepherds pie in the microwave for 10 minutes, put some beans in a saucepan and open a packet of smash. Then at the end of the week he's got no money left at all. He laughs at me for spending so much time in the kitchen…

Does any one have any experience with a Kenwood XKM810? I am looking for a general stand mixer that will handle 1.5 to 2.5 kg of dough (family likes fresh bread!) so as these mixers are supposed to be catering grade with a good sized motor (800 Watts) I am considering one. Thanks Paul

Incontinent dog
My dog has recently been diagnosed as diabetic, and we're still trying to get the insulin/food levels sorted out. But she's drinking so much it's making her incontinent. Thankfully, she always makes it to the entry before going, which is an enclosed paved area outside of the back door. Opening the windows isn't an option.…
