New HBSC Fixed rates - still no change on their SVR
Looks like HSBC have released some new fixed rates, but to get anything decent you need to have a minimum LTV of 75% which is no good to me (my fixed rate comes to an end with them May/June next year) - anything else and your looking at paying 6.99%. I really hope this will come down by the time I need to renew :( . Still…

BTL Mortgage or Regular Mortgage Overpayments
I have a BTL mortgage for 65k and a mortgage on my current home for 29k. They are both tracker mortgages and both allow overpayments. My BLT has dropped by £80 in the last few months and we were going to increase payment to pay what we were paying before to hopefully drop the term of the mortgage. Thinking of tax…

Is now a good time to complete a fixed Rate at 5.68%
My current fixed rate with Nationwide came to an end in September. I have been accepted for a new 2 year loyalty fixed rate at 5.68 % with no sign up fee. The new deal is to start from December but until I make the first payment I can withdraw from it. Now since the new deal was quoted to me 2 things have happend: The Bank…

Another fixed rate question
I am currently fixed at 4.99 til Feb 2011 and much prefer being on a fixed rate so I know what I pay etc. With no early repayment charge I am thinking about taking out a new 7 yr fixed rate @ 4.89 with a £995 fee. We currently have about 30% equity in our house but am worried that with the house prices tumbling this will…

Fixed Rate Predictions
Rightly or wrongly myself and my girlfriend are looking to buy somewhere early next year, my thinking at the moment is that as first time buyers we will be in a very strong buying position and vendors will be more likely to look at low offers (having spoken to some developers they were keen to listen to anything!). I…

Anyone good at maths?
I'm lucky enough not to be in debt and my end goal is to be able to pay off my mortgage as soon as possible. I was just thinking today and don't know if this would work; Halifax allow overpayments they also allow you to take payment holidays. On my £80K mortgage I only pay off around £600-£1000 per year in capital. If I…

Banks not passing on rates.
We have created Monsters in these institutions, they blatentley rip us off at every turn. Nationalise them and make them accountable, they have no social or moral obligation to the very people that keep them alive. We should have let them go to the wall, I want my £50 billion back!

Missold endowment question
I've just put in a claim outside the 3 year timeframe so I'm not too optimistic but my real question is this. The endowment isn't linked to any mortgage and I have just kept it for a 'rainy day'. Well now it's raining and I want to sell it so my question is if I sell it would it affect my claim?

 This might be (most likely is) a silly question but can my mortgage company just decide that they are revoking the variable rate ceiling and can it be reinstated by them, as and when when the current economic situation stabilises or once they revoke it is that it for the rest of the term of my mortgage?

Sharia Mortgages - pros and cons?
Hey y'all, was reading about HSBC's Amanah mortgages and looked up sharia here, but for some reason most of the previous threads have descended into accusations of racism and all the useful information has been buried. So, could someone please explain what the difference between paying a conventional mortgage and a sharia…
