Advice needed on mortgage arrears
Hi I have a mortgage with BM. I bought the 1 bed flat in 2004. The mortgage was an IOSC. The property was £95k, I put down a £15 deposit, borrowing £80k. In 2006 I switched to a repayment with monthly payments of around £950. I was living alone and doing well as a contractor (surveyor) so this figure was manageable. In…

Change mortgage to 'buy to let'?
Hi, Can anyone help please. I currently have in Intellignet Finance mortgage. If I wanted to rent the house out do I need to tell the morgage provider? If so, is there a chance that they say I cant do this or that I need to remortgage to a 'buy to let' mortgage and therefore need to find more deposit? Many thanks

Bradford and Bingley Direct mortgage
Anyone out there with a mortgage taken out with Bradford and Bingley Direct back in the 90's? If so, do you have a record of any guarantee that was made about the discount on the SVR?

Bank of Scotland Personal Choice Mortgage
Does anyone have one have one of these? They don't do it any more. It tracks 1% above their base rate, which they assured me was linked to the Bank of England rate. although I was led to believe it was linked to the Bank of England rate only. I have not had any reductions since the last three BOE drops. I called them last…

Have I shafted myself with an HSBC fixed mortgage??
Hi all, Tried looking through for similar threads but there's just so many at the moment (understandably) that I thought I would post a new one instead. Basically, we took out an 3-year fixed-rate interest-only homestart mortgage with HSBC back in August 2006. With 4 interest-rate rises since we took it out, we figured we…

For those remortgaging
Just thought I would let you know that Abbey have introduced an 'ammendment of offer fee' of £195.00 as of today. Apparently this is because of the number of people wanting to amend etc. We got our offer through the other week for a 3yr fixed - but due to the BofE base rate cut I wanted to extend the fixed rate to 10yrs.…

What's your reason for being on SVR?
Tried to word that title in the least confrontational way possible. Sorry! Anyway, before I got a mortgage I didn't even know there was such a thing I just thought everyone moved round on deals all the time... naive I know!! So why are YOU on the SVR? Was it forced out of circumstances or was it choice? What are your…

Does anyone have a Scottish Widows Mortgage?
I wonder if anyone knows whether Scottish Widows have a collar? The deal I am on is a discounted one - Scottish Widows bank base rate + 0.34% for two years (from June 2008) then it is Scottish Widows bank base rate + 1.00% thereafter. At that time the SW bank base rate was 5.75%. I have looked on their website and it now…

Standard Life not passing on base rate cuts
Standard Life did not pass anything on to its customers in November following the 1.5% base rate cut. Following the 1% cut last week they are passing on 0.8% from 31st December. Therefore they are passing on 0.8% out of the 2.5% base rate cuts. This is less than a third of the total cuts they are passing on and we have to…

My sisiter and brother in law recently looked around for a new mortgage as their fixed term had come to an end. Please read if you're a Financial Advisor
Dear friends, Thanks for looking. I have an endowment policy taken out in 1989 for 25 years for which there is now a projected shortfall of 10,000 in 2014. I followed the mse guide and as far as I know I have exhausted all avenues and gone through the FSA and now have received a cheque for 104 pounds from the FSCS. The…

I just did a mortgage search and Nationwide are doing a fixed 2 year deal of 4.19% followed by 4.69% for 200 moths or so. Now my question is the 4.69% deal guaranteed to remain the same or can it change according to the banks wishes. If its the latter then how can they advertise it for 276 months???
