New mortgage application vs extend previous offer
Hello all, hope you are well. We are FTBs. Completion data estimated by the builder is 31st July. The whole process started from October last year. We went with the mortgage adviser recommended by the builder and have had only 2 options suggested by the adviser and had to pick one. Thankfully the lender offered it. We have…

Parents Equity release
My Mother lost her partner 3 years ago, they took out a fixed rate lifetime mortgage with Aviva in 2005, we have discovered that her £30000 equity release has now got a balance of £91000 and is increasing at the rate of 6% a year. This is unbelievable and a scandal in my opinion, she says she had no idea it would be this…

best deposit / loan to value to secure lowest interest rate?
what is typically the optimal deposit to put down to get the lowest mortgage rate? I'm flexible in what I can afford and would like to put down the minimum deposit that secures the lowest rate. I don't want to increase my deposit beyond the point at which it gives no benefit to the rate. Thanks for any feedback

And this has been going on for two months with neither side…

Refinance loan before mortgage to improve affordability? Or complete madness?
In the next 2-3 months we're looking to purchase our first home. We've been through our finances with a fine toothed comb, have a deposit saved for 90% LTV and credit-wise we're ship shape: no missed payments, CCJs, etc. We've paid off a credit card and just have a loan outstanding which we took out early last year to buy…

Closing and opening utility accounts - impact on applying for mortgage
Hi all, After a separation, I am faced with having to rent as short term as possible while trying to arrange a new mortgage. This will involve: * Closing utility accounts on the property I am leaving (or just taking my name off as ex is remaining - not sure if that counts as closing the account?). * Leaving a mortgage on…

Is it a bad idea to apply for a new credit card three weeks before we have to remortgage?
Our current mortgage deal runs out at the end of this month (29th) and my current 0% deal on my credit card runs out in two days (7th). My credit score (as accurate as they are) is 999 on Experian so that shouldn't be a problem, and because I have some options available to do a balance transfer to another 0% deal credit…
