Can I mortgage my french property to release cash

Hi, My husband and I own a property with no mortgage in Brittany, France.  We've had it for approx 20 years.  We would like to access some of the money in the property.  How can we go about this?  Is it possible to get a mortgage or loan with a french bank even though we don't live in it.  It is just a second home, we do not let it out.  I have been trying to find out online with not much luck.
