Digital tv's...
Digital TV's... Direct view tube: Also known as direct view, a tube television is the closest thing to the one baby boomers watched when they were kids. The picture device is a CRT, which is a specialized vacuum tube. All science aside, CRTs come in all shapes and sizes up to about 40-inches. They feature a good picture…

Freeview? - Think twice before you buy a new tv/set top box
Hi All, As of the end of this year ofcom are planning to start sending HD tv through freeview. The main thing to be aware of is that you will need to buy a new set top box to watch…

Why Sky Or Freesat when you can have 23 satellites for £180 one off
Many postings on this board give the impression that the choice is between Sky or Freesat broadcasting from the Astra satellite. I started off with a motorised dish and a receiver which cost me £180. I can receive 23 satellites from Spain to Turkey and have 7,500 channels. (I have just upgraded to a receiver which gives me…

Advert timings on freeview.

Sky - worst move ever!
Hi there, this is my second thread, its an issue which I could do with a little advice. basically to cut a long story short, decided to take out sky plus. Sky Freesat - can I hide missing channels?
I recently got my old sky box plumbed in as a 'freesat from sky' box. The only thing is the menu still shows all the channels, even the ones I don't get (eg sky 1) which is really annoying and makes surfing and finding channels I do have tedious. Anyone know of a way to hide unwanted channels in the menu?

Sky+ box and its high-pitched noise.
Hi We recently upgraded from a sky box to a sky+ box and its great, however... its so bl**dy noisey! As long as its switched on, even on standby, it makes constant high-pitched noise. The noise only stops when its switched off at the plug. Its annoying and distracting - its loud enough to hear over the tv. Call me paranoid…

PVR and Sky
Hi We have a PVR which is gathering dust, as we have Sky+. The reception around here is very poor, so I was wondering whether we could get the PVR conected to sky somehow? It seems a bit extreme to fork out for an expensive extended aerial for the spare room. Any thoughts?

Any way to make my Sky+HD box record with no subscription?
I have Sky+HD and I simply do not use the HD, so have cancelled the £10 extra subs, I have also worked out that 90% of my viewing is on the "freeview" channels, so my question is, if I was to cancel sky and go with what will effectively be freesat, is there a way that I can still use the pvr function of my box without…

Rubbish programmes on many channels: why?
It is a long time since I watched TV, but I have good memories of "Play for Today" and the Dennis Potter dramas, and some great documentaries that really made you think... Now with this new digital TV, all I can get is the most brain-numbing 'entertainment'. Designed to snuff out any thought processes in the viewer, and…
