SKY New Sound Box
I see Sky are doing a new sound box, something similar to a sound bar - not cheap!! It's £299 for existing customers and £249 for sky Q customers, but a huge £799 for non sky customers. Don't know how it compares to other products in terms of sound, but price wise... very expensive. Anyone has thoughts/comments about this…

Bloomin' Brother Ink saga.
I changed the various ink carts on my Brother printer about a month ago. I bought high capacity Think compatible ones from Choice Stationery Supplies. Since then, no problems, although we use the printer fairly rarely (perhaps 10 - 12 sheets in that time). Today it wouldn't print blue text and when I ran a test print it…

Trick to get your Kapersky internet security renewed - Barclays
Hi all, I had a problem a few months ago with Kapersky internet security, which I got for free from Barclays. I could only fix the problem by getting a new licence key from Barclays. I was amazed to see today that the app, which advised me the license would expire today. The app renewed the license automatically and told…

Lost Android Roaming Ability
Have a Galaxy J3 which I opened up yesterday morning and observed that the Data Roaming button was greyed out, couldn't slide it to 'On'. I suspect the culprit is an overnight software update, but is there any other way that this function could be rendered inoperable, and if so what is the solution? And am I knackered if…

Intel Core i5 or i7 CLI
I'm a bit confused about these 2 CPU's, I have read that the i5 has a GPU but the i7 doesn't. Bearing in mind that the motherboard these would be fitted to has a VGA port - do they each support an display from the VGA port even if it is just to see the BIOS or POST? I am planning on building a headless server so don't…

Windows updates took ages
I knew something was wrong this morning, because my Desktop normally boots up in less than 15 seconds. It was of course the dreaded "Windows updates". It took over twenty minutes to complete, inclusing three restarts. Has anyone else had problems with the latest updates?

IPv6, DHCP and DrayTek router...?
I'm (still) trying to get my head round IPv6, and how to set it up on my DrayTek Vigor 2830n router. Until now, I'd disabled IPv6. But (for the sheer geekery) I want to understand and enable it. With IPv4, a WAN interface gets a public IP address, and NAT and DHCP are used to allocate private IPv4 addresses to local…

Android call recorder recommendation
Can anyone recommend a call recording app for me? My phone is a Google (LG) Nexus 5X, currently on Android 7.1.2 (although I believe the 5X is one of the phones that is due to get Android 8). Curry's Laptop Advice
Hi, I went to Currys at the weekend and was interested in buying a laptop and then was put off as I didn't realise that it didn't include Microsoft Office and that the 2016 software would cost an extra £110. However, through my employer, Microsoft have offered me the software for £10, so the interest is back on. I…
