Problems with MOZBACKUP
I rebuilt my laptop yesterday and ensured that I had a back up of my emails (dating back some 12 years) - using MOZBACKUP This program offers options of settings or just data - I chose the whole lot - which equated to almost 1.2Gb of data in a single PCV file - but when I tried to restore it - it "hung" - obviously too…

software to convert photos to drawings
I am writing a short book and would like to convert sections of some photos I have taken into black and white line drawings. I used to have this as an option on an early photo handling package but the options to do this on my admittedly getting-on version of PSE (10) , do not produce very satisfactory results. Is there a…

"Your Windows License Will Expire Soon"
Hey everyone. I have a Lenovo Ideapad 510P. It shipped with Windows 8. It's about 4 years old. Earlier this year, the harddrive decided to give up the ghost and I paid the local computer guy to install a new one for me (it ended up being a lower capacity harddrive, but annoyed me but c'est la vie.) When he installed the…

Croock Pot cheaper for 2 people?
I currently live on my own and my girlfriend visits. We very rarely have more than us in my flat. I had the thought that rather than spend hundreds on a gas oven, would it not be cheaper both initially and in the long run to use a crock pot? They only cost £30 to buy, won't use up room, and we don't have big meals.

Dual band repeater/range extender
Just had to switch to a new router which is 5GHz, but now my wireless printer won't talk to it because that's on 2.4GHz. If I buy a dual band extender will the printer just know to accept the printing from the 2.4GHz, or will I have to print in a different way?

Simple sat nav recommendations please
Can anyone help me please? I'm looking for a sat nav for my techno phobic old Mum, to improve her confidence when in the car alone, as she's getting a bit forgetful. She'll need something simple to use (possibly one that she can say where she wants to go, rather than fumbling with typing) that will speak directions to her.…

Chrome
If I download Google Chrome can I switch back and forth between GC and IE quickly and easily, or am I stuck with it? I'm trying to use an app which isn't supported by IE, but I don't really want to switch to GC permanently. Thanks.

Advice needed on PowerPoint latest version
I used to be a whiz on Powerpoint but have not used it for a few years now. I was asked to give a talk at a conference this week and the organiser asked me to provide it on a memory stick when we arrived at the conference. I have a newish PC which has a very recent version of PowerPoint but I got the hang of it quite…

Best free email provider?
Is there any consensus on the best. i.e. reliable, un-intrusive and hopefully future proof? I looked into this a while back but got put off when the "best" wanted my mobile phone number to register. Now, as long as they are trustworthy and won't spam me, I accept that will be ok. Been with Virgin Media since before they…

Ccleaner not cleaning Chrome files
Obviously Internet history is ticked under Chrome and I'm using latest version of Ccleaner and Chrome Version 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit) Ccleaner claims to have cleaned them after running, however on checking they are still there, all up to a week ago. Is anyone else having this problem?

MalwareBytes 3 Premium -- freebies? opinions?
I've always used a combination of free security software on my PC. But recently every free antivirus I've tried has been bloated, result in huge startup delays, slowed web browsing, and generally irritated me! I ended up hacking the registry to shreds to fix the issues that persisted after the antivirus/firewall software…

Is this air-con unit a good price?
As i recently moved into a 'new build' block of flats (privately renting) i have quickly learnt how hot it is in here. Especially as i suffer from heat intolerance due to my underlying illness, so i need to buy an air con unit and after a call with an online retailer, i was promoted this one:…

wh has Facebook disabled my account! Help?
This morning i i tried to log into my Facebook (as usual) but found out can't log in. It just comes up with a box saying my Facebook has been disabled! I've had Facebook since about 2009 & this has never happened before. I'm sure I haven't posted anything that would go against Faxebooks t&c's. The only thing I can think of…

Radio Controlled Clock MSF Time Signal
Maybe it's just me, but ever since the MSF time signal moved from Rugby to Cumbria, most of my radio controlled clocks have been next to useless. The worst offender is the 'London Clock' mantle clock in my living room. It often stops completely at 4pm. Sometimes it enters a mode in which the hands rotate continually at…

Humax Boxes
Some years ago I bought a Humax box which has served us very well, but we cannot record more than one programme at the same time which can be annoying. Are you able to record more than one programme at the same time with the newer boxes? Is it worth shelling out £300 for a new box?
