Inspired by celebrity scissorhands I would really like to learn some hairdressing skills - not to be a professional hairdresser but to be able to cut and style friends and family hair...if they let me! However, all the courses seem to be for schoolleavers wanting to go into it for a career and I want something part-time…

Student Accommodation
I was wondering if we should be considering buying somewhere for the daughter to live while she spends the next 3 years at uni? No, we don't have any money to pay upfront, so it would have to be paid for with a mortgage - although we could get a deposit by increasing our mortgage. She is in a very expensive city, so…

Northern Bank Freedom Accounts (N.Ire only)

This worked out very well for me because I had a credit card and a store card which I were able to pay the full…

Multiple student accounts and credit checking
Hi all, I'm thinking about going for a new student account with Lloyds TSB so I can take advantage of the regular saver 8% offer they have. However, two questions come to mind: 1 - they say you have to have only a single student account - they will not let you join them if you already have one elsewhere (you have to…

Do student grants and loans count as income?
As a mature student with 5 years afer this of uni to take on, I had previously discounted buying a house as I would have a minimal income. Financially if I could it would make more sense as I could then let out rooms to other students to cover repayments and gain a little (I hope) in equity over the five years which would…

The need for skills support for students- a worrying development.
It is really rather worrying that some universities are having to provide maths support and extra Maths classes to students on course like Engineering. What does this really say about the quality of Maths Education in the UK? It surely proves that our Education system is limiting this nation and it being good at…
