Trustnet performance tables / FE Fundinfo Crown Ratings
I find it slightly confusing that the 'highest rated funds' don't include the 'top performing funds', and vice versa ie the top performing funds have lower ratings than the highest rated funds. Can anyone explain please?

So, where this is going?
My current understanding is that many stock markets are at all time high, like the Dow Jones, so probably ripe for some correction. US tech companies account for a lot in the Dow Jones index. S&P 500 is at its peak too. In the UK, the FTSE100 is still about 10% below its past peak, whereas the FTSE250 is at his peak too.…

Tax on income from friend to clear debt
Hello everyone, I hope you are all well I am a bit reluctant regarding the following matter: I moved abroad, within the EU and a friend of mine who is still in the UK has a debt to pay towards me which we agreed that it will be paid in installments. Now, this person made good money playing online slots/poker so he is…

To Transfer or Sell (share beneficiary)
Apologies if this has come up before. I'm a little confused. Executor of will and have probate - need to liquidate small amount of shares (7K) to three people nominated in will. Seems easiest option is to fill out sale form and let Equinity sell shares and send check. But I keep reading 'don't do this - transfer them' to…

Child Saving accounts for Grandparents
Is there a child savings account that grandparents can open for a grandchild? All those I have seen require that you have parental responsibility for the child. I would like an account that I can open it the child’s name myself? Is that possible?

Lump sum to be used as deposit - what to do inbetween.
Hi, In a couple of months time I am expecting a tax free lump sum of approx. £40K, after which I will be getting a pay out of around £1200 per month. I am starting to save an emergency fund (currently £2000 hoping to have this to around £7000 to £8000 by the end of July) and by my calculation with a mortgage of £320,000 a…

Selling in ISA - Vanguard
What would happen when I sell part of my investment in the ISA account? Can the cash stay in the account before being reinvested to a different product? If the cash comes out straight to my current bank account, do I lose this part of ISA yearly quota as has already been invested? Or I can sell and reinvest freely as long…

Tool for knowing when to buy/sell?
I found this an interesting article. It's advice is to use the 200 day moving average as a trigger to buy or sell shares ahead of crashes and recoveries. Ie, sell your shares when the market is below the 200 day, and buy again when the market goes above. This wouldn't have worked, says the article, in 1987 when there was…

Increasing rates on existing easy access accounts?
When rates are rising, I'm asking whether banks automatically increase the rate on existing customer's easy access accounts? I've got the impression that if you already have an easy acc savings account and you want a higher rate then you have to manually switch to another account. n other words the banks appear to…

Query this news article after first IFA meeting.
We have had an initial meeting with an IFA firm. Whilst doing our due diligence, I've come upon this article. https://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/news/pays-bad-advice-unraveling-ifa-firm-collapse/ Would this on it's own be enough to put you off using them?

NSI Cash ISA - slow/stalled transfer
With the demise of interest on the NSI Cash ISA, I finally kicked off a transfer to Vanguard on 6th April. Vanguard e-mailed me a form to fill in and sign (NSI don't do on-line xfers), and sent it back to Vanguard within a few days. Transfer shows as "In Progress" on Vanguard, but no sign of any movement from NSI. How long…

Bank savings prize draws and NI gambling laws
An increasing number of banks seem to be offering access to regular prize draws, in top of the derisory interest they are currently paying. All of these prize draws exclude savers in Northern Ireland due to our antiquated gambling laws. I, nor nobody here, is going to be able to change that. However, it got me thinking…

I'm annoyed with NS and I
I'm also annoyed with myself for not reading the small print. My son was born in May 2005, ever since then I have been saving money into premium bonds for him. His holders number account was linked to mine so went I logged into my NS and I I could also see his premium bond saving. I targeted £1k a year to pay in when I got…

Keep RSU or reinvest the money?
I'd benefit from some advice on keeping RSU vs selling and reinvesting. I have company RSUs which increased in value around 50% in the last 5 years, the company is still growing. On one hand, it is giving me some confidence and hope that it will continue to grow and my stocks will be more expensive. On the other hand, I am…
