Is this Vanguard equity/bonds split a sensible option for first-time investor?
Hello, I’ve never invested before & am starting 'my Vanguard journey' as it were. I’ve done a lot of research but am still a little lost in some areas. I’ve detailed below my money overview & would appreciate some second opinions/sanity check on what I’m doing, as it’s a considerable amount of money I am starting with. I’m…

Finances review with the aim of leaving nothing behind!
Good afternoon, I am a 60 year old male, single with no dependants. I am a practical person and realise I probably have 20 good years left. I plan to retire in 5 years time and enjoy my hard earned retirement by travelling and spending time in different countries. I can't decide whether to sell my house to help fund my…

Premium bonds for emergency fund?
I have my emergency fund of a few months of income sat in a normal savings account at present. It's earning next to nothing in interest but it's safe and I can get to it at short notice. Kind of the two main requirements of an emergency fund. But I'm thinking of moving most of it to premium bonds. I understand that premium…

Putting inherited shares into new name(s)
After my FIL's estate is settled, we will be left with some shares that he owned. We plan on keeping them & splitting them between us. At present, they are held by Redmayne Bentley, but would think that we would hold them ourselves going forward. How do we go about getting them put into our names? Do RB do that (at a cost)…

Annual allowance limit uncertainty
So I have finally bitten the bullet and opened a Vanguard SIPP and invested a preliminary 10k in their global all cap index fund. I am in the higher tax band by about 21k this year, so am considering investing more. My queries are: a) If I want to fully reduce my higher rate tax when I fill self assessment, would I need to…

US Pink Sheet Shares
I hold shares in a US company called Solarwindow who were re-classified (by the SEC) to trade on the Over The Counter (OTC) market, as ‘Pinks’. I believe this is a bit like moving from the Footsie 250 to AIM with different accounting standards? As a result, Hargreaves Lansdown say they are unable to deal Pinks so I can’t…

If you withdraw current year's cash from one type, you are allowed to replace it in another type, eg, withdraw…

Bad financial advice
I asked a while ago about claiming for poor action by a financial company/adviser. I was advised it would be "time barred" as it was more than six years after the occurrence. I later heard a radio advert for Goodwin Barratt saying they could help you claim for lost money due to poor financial advice. I telephoned a…

Vanguard
Complete novice here hoping for some advice. With interest rates at rock bottom I am going to put some savings into Vanguard and was thinking about splitting it between LS80 and one other fund.
