Would you feel comfortable...
Holding six or seven figures in a Vanguard LifeStrategy? It's a low cost, diverse passive fund. Or do you feel the risk of not being covered by the FCA beyond 75k makes this a bad idea. I'm on the fence, obviously, which is why I've started this thread B)

Can a UK resident hold his savings in Euro and still be covered by a compensation scheme like FSCS?
I have little faith that the British Pound won't plummet and was wondering if I could hold my savings in Euro currency. Is there any approaches where the savings would still be covered by schemes like FSCS or something similar in case the institution which holds my Euro savings goes bankrupt?

Help to Save - Direct Gov
Just tried to open Direct Gov - Help to Save account to be told I don't qualify as I'm currently off work on sick leave, and have been moved from working tax credit onto universal credit, which isn't recognised as employment income, can I contact Direct Gov and dispute this as I'm still considered an employee at present…

multiple ISA accounts
Wanted to double check, say you open 20k x2 ISA accounts for both him and her. Over the next 10 years your going to have 20 accounts to manage? Wouldn't that be silly? If migrating each old ISA to the new ISA, wouldn't gains be negated with exit fees and selling off the fund assuming S+S ISA invested in a broad Index…

Trust Fund Problem...any advice, please?
Hi I found out recently that I'm one of 4 benficiaries of a Trust Fund. However, the other 3 people involved ( my nieces) refuse to give me any info or help. The background to it: My grandmother had a Trust Fund for her 4 grandchildren - my 3 nieces and me - as beneficiaries. It appears that when she passed some 20 years…

What's your best paying bank savings rate at the moment, excluding reg savers?
Not much going on other than reductions... so I thought maybe we could do something (and nothing) just for interest ...as we ain't getting much from banks lol. So, just for entertainment and a laugh at how bad the rates are, not a competition: What is the best rate of interest that you're currently earning from a bank or…

Suggestions for a speculative punt?
Not just a First World Problem but arguably applicable to anyone who has a small amount in a pension (or ISA) that long term will make little difference so might as well go all in on a succession of shares to build the amount into something worthwhile. Eg if I could double the amount a few times then it's no longer chump…

The information I have is that Income tax will be

Comparing the biggest US companies to the biggest UK companies.
Where did we go wrong? Oh I know, we sat on the sidelines through the biggest revolution since the industrial revolution and ignored technology. Our top 10 companies are nearly twice as old and worth 1/7th as much. Last week Apple's market cap gained $135billion, nearly the entire market cap of our richest company... in 1…

Mystery 'Cheque deposit'?
I don't really know where to put this but I have had a mystery 'cheque deposit' of £700 turn up in my account and I am really confused about where it came from. Don't get me wrong I am NOT complaining about it especially as I am literally about to complete on a house purchase but I thought a cheque would only turn up in my…

NS&I switch if you dare.
Some considerable time ago long before the Corvid 19 lockdown began I decided to move my sons 11 year old JISA from Santander to NS&I. I wanted to do this as Santander had notified customers that they were reducing the interest rate on JISAs. I applied to NS&I for an account for my son providing information for them to…

NS&I DONT!
If you are considering NS&I be certain that you will regret dealing with them. They have requirements for the form filling and document certification that are contradictory. ( if you feel like a major guilt trip, telephone them. If you aren't sorry after the first half hour of waiting you have not been listening). If you…
