NS&I - no idea if I successfully opened account

Last night I attempted to open a new Income Bonds account with NS&I but don't know if I was successful or not. I have no email confirmation.
I got to the last question where it asked me to enter my bank card details for transferring in my money but skipped that question as it's going to come from Coventry BS savings account and I don't have a bank card with them and assumed I could later push the money from Coventry into NS&I (Note: I had previously entered my current account details for where income from the Income Bonds will be paid into.)
There was no error message, but I have no email or anything to say that I have a new account. I don't have time just now to wait 30min plus for them to answer the phone.

just a suggestion, why not try opening a direct saver account with them as well, assuming you don't already have one that is. having the direct saver is very handy for putting the monthly interest from the income bonds in and also buying more income bonds if you want by an internal transfer. anyway if that is successful you will then be able to see if the income bond account was opened or not.tonyg_2 said:Last night I attempted to open a new Income Bonds account with NS&I but don't know if I was successful or not. yes agree - i always send money to my direct saver by faster payment and from there move it to income bonds, premium bonds etc0

Product summary tells you you have to open with at least £500, paid by debit card or personal cheque drawn on a UK bank account so you can't open with direct payment from Coventry BS.tonyg_2 said:Last night I attempted to open a new Income Bonds account with NS&I but don't know if I was successful or not. What is the advantage of doing this over processing a deposit straight to the income bonds account?

How do you assign the interest from the income bonds to the direct saver?

I don' believe you can. The interest has to be paid to your nominated account. Your nominated account cannot be an NS&I account.ischris85 said:d63 said:

yes it can0

Good question. Some posters have claimed that a debit card deposit into the Direct Saver shows immediately, and can immediately be transferred to the Income Bond account, where it will then also show immediately.ischris85 said:happy_hazelnuts said:yes agree - i always send money to my direct saver by faster payment and from there move it to income bonds, premium bonds etc

I think that's more than likely an urban myth, as the clearing time for Debit Card deposits is the same whether you deposit into the DS or into the IB ("Debit card and cheque deposits will clear no later than the seventh banking day after being received"). You can only take money out of an account, whether for internal or external transfer, once it is cleared.
In any case, a debit card deposit into the IB will earn interest from the day of deposit, so there is no need for any cunning-plan approach.

It would help if you could detail how to do this. I tried it and it would not let me add an NS&I account.happy_hazelnuts said:yes it can
