£1000 emergency fund
Hello All! I am currently trying to save up a £1000 emergency fund. It is currently sat in a Monzo Pot I'm not really sure where best to save this long term/until needed though. I guess ideally I'd like to get a good interest on it and still be able to access it quick in case of the emergency! Does anyone have any…

Atom bank app updated - doesn't work with Marshmallow
Atom bank have updated their app, the old one insists you update it and the new one isn't compatible with Android 6 (Marshmallow) or earlier. Just a 'heads up' for users - as Atom accounts are fixed-term savers I suspect most people wont use the App very often. I used to have the app on my tablet but I've had to install it…

Saving for Emergency Fund
I know most of the advice is that you should have between 3 and 6 months worth of your salary as an emergency fund. I also assume that this is also between both myself and my partner combined? Our monthly income is around £5750 a month. that means our emergency fund should be between £17250 and £34500. That seems…

Misleading annual statements for stocks and shares ISAs
Just a quick message to warn people to check what the charges are on their Unit Trusts Your annual statement is probably misleading you I took out two Invesco unit trusts as an PEP/ISA many years ago. I was looking at the statements - "TOTAL amount of charges taken in the period" £0 - Zero nothing (this is the same for all…

Easy access savings help
After getting a lump sum for early retirement and going part time I'm now debt free and have put most of the money into a managed investment portfolio. But I have held 15k back, 'just in case', but I'm confused about where best to place it so it earns some money but where I have access to it if needed, say within a month.…

Shawbrook have joined the rate reduction party
We have a Shawbrook Easy Access Issue 13 account paying 1.39% and have had an email this morning informing us that the interest rate will be reduced from 1.39% to 1.00% on 20/03/20. Looks like we will be closing that account and moving the funds to somewhere (slightly) more profitable.

Personal savings allowance
Hi. I need to put 275K into savings for a couple of years, before using it to buy a house, but want easy access to it if situations change. As this would take me above my PSA of £1000. Atom Bank changed T&Cs - can I withdraw my funds
I have a 2-year fixed Bond with Atom bank. Around 7 months after depositing money into the Bond, I became strapped for cash and inquired about the possibility of withdrawing some cash. I was told this would not be possible (not even with a fee / penalty being charged). Currently, I have about 15 months before the Bond…

Should I have a Little Tinker?
Background IT contractor, 33, paid on a day rate via limited company (outside IR35 for current contract). Pay £250 monthly into HL SIPP (£30k) and £400 monthly into Vanguard ISA (VLS100). No employer matching, no higher rate tax currently to contend with, and potential to go PAYE in future hence higher ISA than SIPP…

Interactive Investor fees not taken this month
Has anyone else not had their ii fees taken or trading credits applied this month, or is it just me? I've asked them and they said they'd had a bit of a delay but it was fixed and they would check my account, but I heard nothing more. My wife's fees were taken a few days late (ie after the 10th).

Where to transfer small ISA amounts
I’ve two ISAs amounting to about 3k. They’re hardly breaking even but don’t know best place to put them to accumulate a bit of interest. Most savings a/cs seem to require monthly direct debits rather than just a lump sum. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance

Have Reg Savers had their day? What are alternatives?
There was a time when there was a decent gap between Regular Saver rates and Instant Access but over the last 2 years that has been greatly eroded to the extent one wonders the future of regular savers. As I am well into retirement I no longer want the long term ride of investments and have liquidated into cash which means…
