Ordinary Shares - What rights do I have?
While working for a company a few years back there was an industry downturn and the company needed some fresh funding. They asked some of the staff to invest some of their money in the form of Ordinary Shares. This was back in 2015 (I then left in 2016 but they declined to buy back my shares) and since then I have not…

VWRL, SWDA or HMWO?
I am looking at investing in a World ETF and am trying to decide between VWRL, SWDA & HMWO. VWRL & HMWO yield around 2% whereas SWDA I understand has no dividend yield. HMWO is much smaller than its mainstream large share fund rivals VWRL & SWDA so could this be a disadvantage? The charges are roughly the same between 0.20…

Today i logged in and looked at the queue to see the following: 3.7% £263.9k 3.7% £100 3.7% £1.0m 3.6% ... So my question is, why is there now £1m ahead of me in the…

Silly question time: one investment to buy NOW
You have to buy one investment using 50% of your investment wealth to hold for ten years. You have to buy it in the next ten minutes which rules out OEICs but allows shares, ETFs, investment trusts, individual bonds etc. What would it be? I would go for Monks. (They’ll be waking up on the East coast where bostonerimus will…

LISA vs Pension
Not sure what to do. I am basic tax payer, with work pension where i contribute about 10% (get max benefit from work). I have more cash available for long term investing. Should I increase my % contribution or put money in a LISA? On longer horizon which one does better? Cause with Pensions I would need to pay income tax…

Nest egg for great-grandson
My mum (87) wants to put some money aside for my grandson (18 months) so that he can't get at it before he's 21. A bit old-fashioned maybe, but her logic is that this will make it less likely to be blown on a gap year, etc. She doesn't want the expense and hassle of doing this formally in her will. Bright ideas welcomed!

My mother has dementia and has just moved into a care home. The monthly fees are £4023. Her house is worth approx £400,000. What would people recommend to do with the house to maximise income from it? We can rent it out at about £1300 a month (minus management fees (10% + VAT) and tax) or sell it and invest the money. Mum…

Complimentary funds alongside Vanguard LS 60
Im wondering what peoples thoughts are about what would be a good fund to hold alongside the vanguard lifestrategy 60. Or, is there no real need for an amateur investor like me to worry about investing in another fund and just put all my money into the VLS60. All suggestions and reasoning welcome.

Confused about trackers
I am a little confused about trackers. In a market where there is more volatility would active funds not be bette than trackers? I understand that over the long term trackers and active funds are about the same, but say over the next 10 years, shouldn’t the latter do better? I ask as I am wondering whether I should just…
