Nationwide asking for employers details
Hi all, I have just applied for/opened a Nationwide FlexDirect current account and was just wondering why they ask for employers details? Is it just to see if you are earning so you fulfill the application criteria, or are they trying to change the account my wages are deposited into? Stupid, I know... Thanks in advance!

Stock question from clueless investor!
Hi - hoping for a bit of advice as I am bewildered! I inherited some stock in a major US oil company many years ago, and - as a stocks and shares ignoramus - have been plugging along just filling in the odd form and getting dividends, not actually ever looking into the stock market more deeply, as I have no other available…

Can I open an S&S isa and a LISA in same tax year
As above... And aim to contribute 4k to the lisa at some point and remainder in s&s. Similarly, can an innovative finance isa also be opened and contributed to within same tax year (and assuming haven't used up allowance, contribute to as well)?

Cash:stock ratio
I am looking to buy a house in perhaps 2-3 years time. I would like to grow my funds as much as possible whilst protecting what I've got. Okay stating the obvious!! I've got around 50:50 in cash:funds/trackers (VLS80, S&P, FTSE250 and a few other bits). I'm happy to accept a 10-15% loss on my pot (about £17k currently) in…

Building a First Time Portfolio
Hi, I'm in my late twenties looking to build an accumulation portfolio of index funds with a view to investing in these monthly for the next 10-15 years. The real issue I'm having at the moment is what funds to invest in that run alongside my core holding in the Vanguard Lifestrategy 80% Equity Fund. Roughly 70% of my…

Best date to open a regular saver?
I had an email from Santander today about their 5% regular saver & it gave a projected final balance of "up to" depending on the date the account is opened. Which made me wonder when would be the best date of the month to open a regular saver? No take away all the answers like before it's too late as the account may not be…

Shares in sole name treated as joint for CGT?
I need to sell some shares in my sole name quickly, but just realised that this will tip me over CGT limit. Is there a way I can assert that my spouse can share the gain (because in reality she is a beneficiary of the proceeds - that will end up in our joint account). I won't have time to do the paperwork to transfer them,…

Good teenage investment account
I've been using the Halifax 6% saver account for my older son, paying in £100 a month for just over 2 years. At the end of each year, the money is "syphoned" off and goes into a normal Halifax account (very low interest). With just over £2000 in the "normal" account, does anyone have any suggestions where I could move it…

Fixed Bonds
I am considering taking out a 3yr fixed rate bond with Vanquis. The offer is for 1.9% gross for up to 250k max. I only have about 16k to invest but it's a lot to me. Whilst this offer is the best I can find, I haven't found anyone else recommending it in the forum, neither yay or nay, so I'm wondering if I've missed…

Santander 123 current accounts
Is it still viable to have these accounts if only holding say 8k in each account? The rate has gone down but the monthly fee has gone up. Ignoring cashback, is it still worth hanging onto these in case the rates do go up? Or would it be better just to close these down and re-apply? Bear in mind that I'm an early adopter,…
