Lifetime ISA bonus question
I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere or guidance on the bonus top up apart from for 17/18 will be paid in April 18 and after that monthly. Assuming the ISA is opened now and filled with the full £4000 the £1000 top up for 17/18 will add in April 18. My question is - If I then add the full allowance of £4000 in…

My IFA is going with SJP. should I be concerned ?
My current IFA has just visited for the annual review of my husbands pension and ISA. We paid him fee to invest my husband's pension when he retired 3 years ago and an annual fee to maintain it. We also invested in an ISA with him 2 yrs ago. We have been happy with his advise and the performance of both items. He has now…

Business Investment - Can I fund it this way?
An opportunity to buy a newish business (nearly at the end of its third year of trading) has come up. My wife and I believe it would be a good investment and that we would be able to make it grow. The business is up for sale at £65K but with chatting to the owner a more realistic price for us would be around £50K, the…

Best index tracker funds?
Just started using H&L S&S - investing the minimum £25 per month to begin with. Best funds? Not picky on income / accumulation / growth etc. or timescales (i.e. no rush to withdraw). Thanks

Paying into Help to Buy ISA then transferring into a Lifetime ISA
Hi, I've currently got a Help to Buy ISA which I pay into every month. I won't buy a house within the next year so want to set up a Lifetime ISA when the cash ones are released, which I will transfer my Help to Buy ISA into. I know that you can only pay into 1 ISA each year so can I pay into my Help to Buy ISA in May then…

What next
Hi, I have a S&S account at last year's limit. I'm not looking to put any more in right now I have as many high interest bank accounts as possible. I've run out of direct debits. I have a lot in p2p, probably don't want to go anymore. As I'm worried I'll go over the £1000 tax free limit. I'm waiting for the Innovative ISA…

Silly question about bonds
Reading about allocations and risk and volatility all the statements seem to suggest that bonds are more secure. Can someone please kindly explain me how can it be . If funds are investments into many different companies bonds are debt obligations issued by one organisation only, ie they are far less diversified. So what…

To ETF or not to ETF?
Since I'm in danger of over analysing here I'd like some clarity - and maybe I'll get some clarity as a result of writing this post. I've got a (hopefully) reasonably balanced portfolio using trackers ready to be used in anger. 80/20 equity, rebalancing over 15-18 years to 50/50. 30% of the equity is going to be covering…

Bank juggling, best way to earn interest?
Say for example I have £8,000 to invest. At the moment £3,000 in NS&I 3 year fixed at 2.2% and £5,000 in OakNorth Bank 3 year fixed at 1.91%. Will give me £198 (NSI) + £286.50 (OakNorth) = £484.50 after 3 years. I want to invest the money in a completely risk free way, so no stocks and shares etc. I'm intrigued by these…

I'm told "you are doing it the wrong way around"
I have a large pot of Cash ISA (6 figures). I squandered the opportunity to invest in S&S's 10 years ago when all hell broke loose and thereby missed out on potentially a lot of interest! I'm now trying to correct this by investing in a LISA, and a S&S ISA, transferring some across, and contributing new money too, to…
