Liquid Savings Vs DCA

Hi,
I'm currently towards the end of the tunnel re debt. Only 8k to go via a DCA.
I have limited income, and pay X amount to the DCA ever month and I've never missed a payment over the last 5 years and will have paid all my debts in full by in three years or so. So i am working hard to pay my dues and not to deny anything.
So...
I have a 2 year old son and have been saving for him on the side. (cash) Its tough, but it makes me feel better about my own situation to think that one days his will be better,
Anyway, id like to put this money somewhere safe, but it needs to be liquid. just in case we do need it for emergencies.
Where is the best place to put it? My DCA has just been taken over so I'm conscious id rather keep that money "off grid" so to speak. But would feel better having it in savings account of some description so its not lying about, (i also have lots of old pound coins that need to be changed) but if my DCA were suddenly to cut up rough for any reason, would they be able to claim this ?
A bit of a daft question maybe, but any advice appreciated!
