I wonder wether transferring my current account to another bank will close my regular saver or wether I can have my regular saver at hsbc with no…

Silly question about interest...
Hi everyone, I have a silly question which - when it occurred to me - I was surprised I didnt know the answer: If I were to save in a fixed term savings account at 4% - does this mean that I will earn 4% PER YEAR? So if I saved £1k into a 5 year fixed account at 4% I would get £1200 back? Or would I just get £1040? See - I…

Old Premium Bonds
Some 50 years ago, when a pound was not an insignificant sum, my son-in-law was given two premium bonds as birthday presents. As he has never checked them, he decided to do so the other day. He telephoned the Premium Bond centre, to make enquiries, and was told that because he doesn't know his holder's number the bonds…

Stock picking
How do you pick individual stocks to invest in? Do you have an edge over the 'professionals' who have resources and access to information an individual can just not match. Any resource you do have or information you base your decisions on has already been built in to the share price. So how do you do it? Cheers fj

Investment Noob - Cavendish/Fund Questions
I've been reading Investopedia & looking at some of the funds on Cavendish & have built up some questions I was hoping some on here may have answers/insights about. 1) A lot/all the funds have a monthly £50 minimum...what if you don't pay it? Or is it just saying you can't ever put in less than £50 in one transaction? 2)…

But to let cars
I wasn't really sure where to post this question. Has anyone seen this? I keep receiving invitations to buy to let cars and I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Invest around £14,000 and get £250 a month return. Sounds too good to be true and therefore probably is. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Tax free dividend allowance 2016
Just wondered if the £5k tax free allowance on dividends was going to change people's investment plans. It would certainly help with unwrapped investments within income focuses portfolios and still being moderately cash heavy is something I'll be looking to utilise going forward.

Dirty-clean Migration Accounting
Does anyone have a good way of recording the migration of holdings from dirty to clean funds in MS Money (and similar progs I guess)? - A sell/buy or remove/add holdings loses the fund history and CGT liability - Renaming, and changing the code. of the fund to the new one, while doing a 'fund split' to get the correct…
