Performance of 70% Equity Portfolio?
Can anyone advise which would be the best benchmark to use to gauge how a portfolio has performed which is 70% invested in equity funds (mainly UK & European) and 30% in a global bond fund. £100k was invested in March 1999 and had grown to £189k by March 2015. I have calculated that this is about 4% pa growth after charges…

Anyone else making a loss on all their S&S investments?
After 8 years of being 'invested' my pension is down around 15%. I have a few S&S ISAs that have been invested for a few years also all showing losses. My conclusion is that the stockmarket is itself a 'dead loss' at the moment and only earning money for the people running it. I have a fairly diverse mix of funds,…

Pensioner Bonds
Just received a communication from NS&I saying we will receive written reinvestment options when the time comes but queries can't be answered by phone in the meantime. Has anybody seen any news about what reinvestment options are likely to be, if indeed the bonds will be capable of being rolled over and continued in their…

As the title says my daughter [11 in Jan] is to soon receive 7k from her grandad. I have been looking at JISIs @3% which will lock the savings away til she's 18 which I like the idea of. Intermediate investment book recommendation
Hi, I've read 3 basic investment books and I want to move to the next step. If there's one thing I've learned by reading this book is how complex the investment topic is and how little I still know about it. It would be ideal for me to find a book that have more advance topics in asset selection, perhaps some mathematical…

Newbie with small savings, switch ISA, Zopa, Club Lloyd?
Finance newbie here, be gentle. :A I put £4000 into a NS&I easy access cash ISA a few months ago, but the rate has gone down so I'm wondering if I should / could move it to either a Stocks & Shares ISA or a fixed-rate ISA, or would I have to wait until the next tax year? I'm also considering investing the money with Zopa…

Management
There is a strongly held view by many in the investment world, that management is critical to the growth of a company. Therefore, my question is that when investing in a company on a stock exchange, e.g. the LSE, how do you go about ascertaining the quality of the management team in place? Is there any way to communicate…

French Property Lease backs

They seem relatively low risk and very hands free for length of the lease back term. Does anyone have any advice or feedback on experiences they have with…

Can a building society really stop me closing an account?
I have a Santander 2 year fixed rate bond with £50k+ in it. I went into branch today to remove the money as we have decided it would work better for us elsewhere. We were told in branch that we cannot remove the money until the bond matures. Can they really hold on to money which is ours?
