Monthly Income

I have around £250,000 to invest in the hope of getting around 5% to boost my meager pension. I am considering the vanguard life strategy options but any cost effective solutions/advice would be very helpfull. I also spotted in one of the posts reference to a "monthly income thread" on here. I have searched but can't find it no matter how I try. Can anyone provide a link please?

A forum search for "monthly income" (without the quotation marks) using advanced search and "Search Titles Only" brought it up in the second hit along with others which may be of interest as well.
