Options trading : Income taxed or CGT?
Afternoon, Do any gains from options trading count for income tax as well as Capital Gains Tax? I read that up to £11,000 per tax year is CGT free. If, for example, I make £5000 trading profit from options in a tax year in a non ISA/SIPP trading account - and earn £50,000 in my day job - do I have to declare this £5000 as…

silversunproperty.biz
Have had what appears to be spam / phishing from this company today. There a number of things that lead me to think so: 1) Headers use one of my email addresses, 'unsubscribe' sentence indicates it was sent to another. 2) The WhoIs site has no information on a domain owner for silversunproperty.biz 3) It offers "guaranteed…

Best savings account.
Hello! I have never been interested in money because I've never had any. Things have changed a little in that my father has left me a large sum (it's large to me, but might seem like chickenfeed to others!) and I frankly don't know what to do with it. I don't want to invest it in anything as I don't trust anything like…

Interest paying current accounts
I want to open a few of these, as some ISAs are due to mature soon. However, I have no credit history, as I have never borrowed, except for a mortgage paid up long ago. Are there any of the providers, known to refuse because of this ? I have never been in debt.

Virgin fund increased but valuation decrease
I've invested £250 regularly into a Virgin index-tracking UT but the valuation over the past 6 months on my statement doesn't reflect this. It says that the fund increased between two dates but the valuation has decreased between the same two dates. How can this be? Isn't this misleading?

Save now for help-to-buy isa?
Hello, everyone. I am trying to find an answer to a question as Google is not giving me any clear answers. I understand that if I want to get a help-to-buy isa in December, I cannot open a new cash isa in this tax year. I have had a cash isa for almost 3 years but I haven't really used it much. Since April, it has been…

Global (ex UK) v US/Europe/Japan trackers
I'm struggling to see the pros and cons over using a global tracker instead of a separate tracker for the US, Europe, etc. So far I recognise that it could be a little harder to manage overall (since there's more parts to keep in balance). There's also the potential of increased fees - except if I went with a…

How is interest worked out on current accounts?
I have a TSB Classic Plus account which pays 4% interest (after tax) monthly on balances up to £2000. I'd worked out that seen as i have well over 2000 in there all the time, that each month i'd be getting 4% of 2000, so £80 in interest a month. However, can someone tell me how interest is actually worked out as today i…

Two quick questions about the post office instant saver
Hi all! Considering using the post office instant saver as a way to save up for children expenses (the main advantage being ease of deposit for older relatives who don't like doing bank transfers). Just two quick questions, if anyone happens to know: - do these accounts come with a sort code/number for receiving electronic…
