Mixed Budget News
Just seen that dividend tax is changing and you'll now get a £5000 annual allowance. On the bad news, BTL income is being taxed more with restriction on interest tax relief. Will be interesting to see how it pans out

Advice for a bewildered newbie
Hi, I’m an investment newbie and researching it is making my head spin so I’d be grateful for any advice anyone could give. My situation is that I’m nearly 50, ideally I’d be looking to retire at 55 but there’s a good chance I’ll be made redundant in a couple of years time. I’m in a decent defined benefits pension scheme…

Can you help a newbie with tax implications
This is my first post so I hope you will be kind. I am 57 in November and my husband will be 60 the same month. We retired early and draw modest occupational pensions. Neither of us pay tax on our pensions as they are under the personal tax allowance threshold. We have the following investments with Cofunds: £54k in ISAs…

I have always been sensible with my money. In a few months I'll turn 23 and I'm now starting to prepare for my far-distant future: retirement. I hold a graduate job and earn a decent-enough salary. I'm currently waiting for my pension to open so I can start ploughing some cash into it - finally! But, I've recently jumped…

Inheriting an Isa
I'm having problems understanding the new rules regarding inheriting an ISA. Sadly my mum passed away recently and dad and I are trying to sort out the finances. From reading the small amount of info on the Gov. Websites I thought that dad would get a one-off extra allowance to the value of mum's ISAs. So say mums left…

Holiday home or wait?
I have a little conundrum ... I have the option to buy a holiday home I'd like but that would/may leave me a bit financial thin (thin, not in debt) for few months (6) whilst I build my saving pot again... Worst case scenario would be if I were made redundant, possible not highly probable right now, but in that case I would…

Advice, please, on investing £46,000 this year
I’d be grateful for advice on how to use/invest some £46,000 that will be coming to me during September by way of matured bonds, ISAs etc. I will have a further £18,000 approx to invest next year, and then £62,000 during 2017. I’d like to have some sort of plan – or, at least, a steer --- for using this money, rather than…

Would using a financial advisor be useful?
For the first time in my life I am thinking about whether I need or would benefit from using a financial advisor.
