Best (short term) savings option for 150K?
I'm starting to go cross-eyed researching all the variables on Easy Access savings accounts, so I'm hoping someone can give me a good, quick steer. I'm about to receive around £150K from a house sale and won't be investing it properly (new house or stocks & shares) for about 6 months. [Before I get any 'lucky sod'…

How do you calculate 12 month fixed bonus?
For example a bank account has an interest rate of 1.55%. Another account is 1.50% tax free/AER variable (including 12 month fixed bonus of 1.25%) Which one pays more? Lets say investing £1,000 in each account and they are tax free. The 1.55% account will pay out £15.50. How much does the second one pay out in interest?

Old building society accounts
I would appreciate members views on whether it is still viable to keep old accounts open with just over £100 in them on the off chance that they will one day pay a bonus if they merge or get taken over. In the past I have benefitted from having had such accounts; i.e. Leeds, Northern Rock, Portman and Bradford and Bingley…

Have I made a mistake (5yr fixed-rate savings)?
Hi, No-one knows what interest rates will be like up to 2019 but I'm very new to saving and wondering if I've made a mistake locking myself into a fixed-rate savings account of 3.2% up to 2019. Is it believable that an interest rate could go as high as 5-10% in 5 years time, and generally how high have they been in the…
