Santander Unhelpful

Has anyone else found Santander unhelpful, obtuse and generally a barrier to handling and working with accounts. Someone should train their staff and look at procedures. I'm not travelling in their direction.

No, I find them brilliant. But then, all I have with them are a few 123 accounts which pay me interest and cashback, and a credit card that also pays me cashback.

They have made me a Select customer so I have a few perks, such as up to £750 cash withdrawal a day and no charges on purchases abroad.

I opened all the accounts online and have very few gripes with their account handling. Only thing that annoys me is their fraud checking on new payees, and the ensuing delays. But as they have always processed payments within 24 hours, I can't really complain.

The friendly and knowledgeable cashier in my local Branch gave me the direct phone number of the Branch if I ever need to order larger quantities of cash, or another Branch service.

What is it you want to do, and can't do, and why?

Branch staff are normally helpful and polite (and human) unlike their online equivalents.

They had a very poor reputation a couple of years ago. But I've got 2 123 accounts with them, all online, never visited a branch but no complaints.

As colsten says what is your particular problem?

I find branch staff very friendly and helpful and they've not made any mistakes in handling the three accounts I have with them.

I've found the online (secure message) support very good, not too keen on the telephone support though. I had to be insistent with the local branch counter staff when sorting out my phone number (needed for setting up payees), but the backroom staff were great when I eventually reached them.
