Foreign savings accounts
I want to open a savings account in Australia for a couple of reasons, 1. There are some very good rates there 2. I plan on visiting for extended periods and would prefer to have money in an account there earning interest and not being at the mercy of dismal exchange rates and extortionate charges from my UK bank. Anyone…

Looking to put the full isa allowance into cheap trackers in the new year, also have funds still with chartwell/ close which are part trackers and part active and realise these need to move to get a better deal.

Where to put house sale funds?
Hi In other threads I have explained that my F_I_L's house has to be sold to pay for care home fees of at least 800gbp per week. My question is, where do we put the c 700k proceeds? Given the 85k account security, is it sensible/necessary to open 8 different saving accounts, or is anywhere guaranteed safe for such a large…

santander123 - is it worth it for me?
Sorry if this has been answered already but I haven't found it yet. I already have a Santander current account, zero fees, with several DDs but all the benefits have now run out for me. Santander have suggested I transfer to the 123 account and I have enough income going in to qualify. I know the fees are £2 per month =…

Hi, My father has a large sum of money in Co-Op platinum bonds and has recently wanted to withdraw the money but was told an MVR would apply. Hi guys, I currently have 2 children and have invested 30k for each child in a bond that matures in 2 weeks time. S&S ISA - No of providers/brokers Allowed?
I’m new to investing in S&S and was thinking about something passive and (relatively risk averse) like Vanguards Index linked funds within an ISA. My question is if I take out such a fund through a specific brokers (Hargreaves Lansdown possibly) and plan to drip feed the fund, can I hold any other ISA based funds or (even…

Transfer Halifax online ISA to Halifax Fixed ISA
Hi, My wife has an online ISA with Halifax (instant access), where the rate is due to drop to 0.25% on April 9th. We decided it would be best to move the money over to the 3 year fixed ISA at 3%. So, we popped into our Halifax branch to arrange this. However the staff member stated that we need to make an appointment with…

Any massive flaws in this?
Hi, A couple of months ago I finally decided to take control of my finances and try and put some kind of long term plan together. It's by no means the most sophisticated of plans but would be interested to get some opinions on it and make sure I'm not leaving myself open to some inter-connected doomsday scenario! My…
