Portfolio rebalancing - question re bonds
Firstly apologies if this is perhaps a naive question, or if it has already been covered - I did have a look around, but couldn’t see anything obvious. I’m fairly new to the investing game, taking a passive approach with a mixture of equity tracker and bond funds in both pension and ISA wrappers, and I’m currently looking…

Really quick Halifax reward question?!
Hello, Just looking at the Halifax Reward bits that came through the post this morning, can someone please help me out with a quick query before I go into branch to show them ID and forms signed? It says on the website if you switch a current account from another provider and it has at least 2 Direct Debits on it, then you…

Can saving rates beat mortages?
Hi there for the last 2 years or so my mortgage has been 2% plus base and I have found it relatively easy to beat this with instant access Cash ISA's. I am now struggling a bit though as M&S are reducing it again to 1.3%. I guess banks margins are thin on borrowing/saving rates. I do have equity ISA's/SIPP's and have…

Ireland remove bank deposit guarantee.
Don't know if anyone's picked up on this yet. I find it disturbing. Don't know if anyone else can throw more light on it. But I certainly will be removing what I have there.

Drawdown funds in retirement: some thoughts
I have been reading around the question of asset allocation for folk like me who want to take an income from their investments during retirement - either from a SIPP or an ISA. There's a huge amount written about investing in SIPPS and ISAs before retirement, but not so much about what to do once we are in the…

BT shares / EasyShare / Equiniti
Had a letter out of the Blue from BT Group saying it had arranged a "Quick & easy" share dealing service with Equiniti for buy or sell BT shares. Has to be actioned before 18th April. I've had BT shares for donkey's years but never had a letter like this before, just wondering what might have triggered it. Any idea why now?

The Fear of the Correction!!!
It seems, regardless of the thread's purpose, that many threads end up debating the dreaded correction. After such rises it must come. Not a good time to get in. We could see 5000 before we see 8000 etc. And of course such is the nature of a wiggly line that all will get their chance to say how right they were ;) However…

and now the chelsea cuts rates without telling first!
have just noticed the chelsea building society dropped the interest rate on my old esaver account from 2.6% to 1.98% on the 4th march without any advance warning! (. . . or at least without any warning to me!) i can't say i had not been expecting a cut some time soon what with everyone else doing it, but it is nevertheless…

I need a 5%+ Dividend Yielding UK Share
Okay, I'm looking to invest in a single UK share which is reasonably safe and offers a good stable dividend. Which do you think is best and why? Note: I know I'll get the usual "don't invest in one share, use a tracker instead" and other similar responses. Before that, I'd like to explain my reasoning for this idea: The…

Tracing lost premium bonds certificate etc..
Hi guys, My Dad has just called me and asked if I can find a telephone number and/or address for tracing back lost Premium Bond certificates. I think he had this from when I was a baby, so a fair while ago. He's old fashioned and doesn't have the internet, so hence i'm asking :p Thanks! :)

Financial Advisors-are they worth using?
Hey All, For the past few months I've been drowning in a sea of information when it comes to investing. The long term aim I've always said is to get into property however I want to expand my…

Is there a way to time share entries when its had a long run up?
But as you can see from the 6 month chart it has recently (2 weeks ago) had a rally, with a slight pullback on profit-taking the last few days. - as a new user im not allowed to post images or links, so if you check the 6 month chart for XCH you can see my question is, when it comes to timing entry into a share like this…

Short Term Savings
Good Afternoon In the next few weeks I will be receiving a lump sum following the sale of my house (approx £15k - £20k). As I will not be purchasing another for approx 6 months I was looking for a risk free, potentially quick access high interest saving solution. Does anyone have any suggestions. Many Thanks Colin.
