and now the chelsea cuts rates without telling first!

have just noticed the chelsea building society dropped the interest rate on my old esaver account from 2.6% to 1.98% on the 4th march without any advance warning! (. . . or at least without any warning to me!) i can't say i had not been expecting a cut some time soon what with everyone else doing it, but it is nevertheless excessively annoying that they go and do it without telling first just like the post office did a while back!! grr!

I don't know if eSavers are different but they did send out notice by post nearly a month ago regarding my mother's passbook account.
There was also advanced notice on the website and discussion in these forums.
So bad news if you didn't see any of those but I would say NOT like the Post Office.0 -

oh, ok! thanks for that! i suppose i better forgive them then! they just forgot to tell _me_!! how typical! but ever since the post office played that trick on me a while back I've been carefully checking my other accounts every week and still managed to miss this one!
(hows that saying go? --- just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean they still aren't out to get you! . . . or, or something!)0 -

They have already been taken over/merged, by Yorkshire Building Society but no windfall. You are now a member of YBS.
I still have £100 + in YBS paying over 3%. Very unlikely they will convert bearing in mind what happened to B&B, A&L, Halifax but at least I am earning 3%.0 -

The Regular Saver 1 pays 3.75%. Absolutely not open to new customers, but existing customers still get that rate. :-)0
