Savings and School Fees
I am expecting to inherit about £60K which I want to put aside to pay for private schooling for my son. What is the best place for this money given that I would obviously like it to attract interest but that I will also have to make regular (termly) payments out of it?

Where to start?
Hi everybody :) I graduated from university almost a year ago and was fortunate to land a job that's allowing me to start to build up some savings. My question is - how can/should I save it? Could anyone please answer the above? The complication in my case is that I live in France 365/365 and pay tax in France, albeit a tiny amount due to small income. Curiosity: What were the rates when times were good?
Before i "got into" banking, i just put some money into an ISA that i could afford to say goodbye to, but i left the majority on my current account with Nationwide, which would pay a nice amount of interest at the end of the year. I had about £10k on my FlexAccount at the time. When one year i received £0.00 & looked into…

Poor Long-Term Savings Rates
Given that interest rates over a 5 year time horizon are more likely to rise, why are current 5 year fixed-rate bond returns so poor (less than 4.5%). The differential from 2 and 3 years fixed (and even from ready access) seems disproportionately low. Are there any signs or comments in the market suggesting that long-term…

Best Passbook savings account
Looking for the best passbook savings account, they don't seem to pay very good rates of interest now though. The better rates all seem to either be for online or post only. Are there any suggestions for a branch based passbook account only paying more than 0.1% interest?

Early Exit Fees-How much?
Hi Early this year we invested £10,000 in a Credit Suisse inflation linked 6 year bond (for our 2 year old daugher) via the Yorkshire Building Society. We have since thought better of this and realise the money would be better paid of our mortgage and we can save up for her later. In the small print it says there are early…

How much spendable income would you get from £5 million of savings?
Hello, I have been trying to calculate the amount of income you can spend when having a principal saving of £5M while maintaing the same wealth over time. The principal needs to grow to cover inflation to provide for long term (or perpetual) income. I have read a lot of opinions on this, and the 2 primary variables seem to…
