There is a message on my home page suggesting some egg customers have been informed of forthcoming interest rate changes. Does this apply to Egg Money? I don't wan't to transfer a lot of money into there and find the interest has dropped.

Egg - telephone service hours
Is it my faulty memory or did Egg previously have operators manning the phone lines until very late or even on a 24-hour basis? Reason I ask is that I managed to lock myself out of online access to my accounts and got the message to call an 0845 number - with no hours stipulated. I tried the number about 20 minutes ago and…

I am being thick! Question on tax on savings interest.
I met someone this morning that said interest on savings was taxed before you were given the net amount so there was no need to declare it to the HMRC or your accountant when doing your tax return. Foggy brain today and feeling confused on this as I assumed you needed to report it even if the tax had been paid as it may…

How to invest £125,000?
I retire in a few months and I need to start making arrangements as to where to invest the lump sum part of my payout. I will have no debts to pay off and my pension will be more than enough to pay my regular expenses and living costs. I would like to have 15-20k reasonably accessable, but the rest I am happy to make…

Interest Rates in Two Years? Any Guesses?
I have £263,000 in a variety of fifty (one thirteen) thousand pound segments which will come due at that time (two years hence that is). Wonder what guesses people hold as to what interest rates might be at that time? Surely the huge debt load will have had to effectively kicked in by then? 'There'll Always Be An England!'…

Investing in foreign currencies
Is there a relatively straightforward way to invest in a range of foreign currencies (not necessarily EUR or USD)? Possible options that I can think of are: (a) Opening foreign bank accounts: time-consuming, fees and charges, opening restrictions, tax complications. (b) Getting paper currency from a foreign exchange or…
