Best place for my savings?

Hiya. I have 4,000 inheritance that has recently matured and i would like to know what the best account would be to put it into in order to get the best return. The interest rate they have offered me is really bad compared to last year so i am thinking it may be best to move. It was with the halifax. I dont want to take any risks on my money and i dont mind if it is tied in for a year or so. Thanks in advance!

ISA (£3600) or one of the 1year Fixed rate bonds.0 -
Hi Rebecca,
Have a look here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest
Most people are trying to get a fixed rate either via an ISA or some sort of bond because I think most people think interest rates are going to continue to go down until the BoE runs out of options.
Whatever you do, try and get it fixed pronto before the base rate drops again. If you're a tax payer try and make sure that you get a tax wrapper (e.g. an ISA) around whatever you use

Saffron offers a good rate on it's ISA but, alas, it's a branch or postal account only.0
