Good morning folks, I am a 27 year old Brit working for a musical instrument company in Japan, and am considering what best to do with the 3,000,000 JPY currently sat in my Japanese Post Office bank account - earning a minimal amount of interest. I have a further £4,000 or so in my National Savings ISA, and have yet to…

State bank of India 7.5% fixed, 5 years...
...There appears to be a new kid on the block (per Moneysupermarket.com). They are registered with FSA so I assume they are covered by the compensation scheme. They are also fairly highly rated per Fitch as they are the largest bank in India. The strange thing is they have no UK website (although they have an Indian site)…

I have bought a certain amount of shares and want to hold them and see what happens in this economic climate. Do I pay a penalty for an account that is not 'active'. If so how much would…

POST OFFICE 7.05% whats the risk?
Have £300k to invest for one year. Do not need to touch the cash for one year and I want a one year bond. Most of the decent rates for one year bonds have gone now but the Post Office rate holds. I was thinking of placing the entire amount with Post Office. Any thoughts on risk factor?

Halifax RS
had a strange call from HBOS today, trying to convince me to move out of the 10% RS because it doesnt make as much interest as one of their other standard savings accounts. this was the arguement that it pays interest for 12 months only on the first £500. maybe its costing them too much ? Mike

RBS Green Indices
Was offered to invest in a Natwest combi-saver just very recently, seems its a 3.5 yr bond, half the investment sits in a normal account with good interest for the first year and the following earning 1% below the base rate while the other half is used by Natwest to invest in different 'Green' companies "because that's…

Kaupthing Edge Risk?
I was thinking of using Kaupthing Edge as the savings account in which to put money from a free credit card balance transfer, known as stoozing. However, I read elsewhere that Kaupthing are believed to be high risk and may fold, I know the first £35K will be protected but if there is a collapse I may not be able to get the…

Tax on savings - no earned income
Hi, I'm wanting to earn profit from my savings in the most tax efficient way - after exhausting ISA limits (relatively speaking - not really looking to transfer the money to an account abroad :p ). I have savings in an account with a Bank I'm happy with so I'm not looking to change accounts/banks. Just have a question…

£15000 to save, but confused with so many choices
I need the ability to have instant access to my money, so I will not bother about the fixed rate term deposits for the complete amount. Although I can go for a term deposit or a regular saver for half the amount. If I look at a one year period, what are the best options for me?? I thought of going for a top paying Instant…

Index-tracking ISA and "buy in" price
I'm thinking of getting an index-tracking ISA with Legal and General - probably the UK Index or UK 100 Index one. Once my application is processed, is my money immediately invested (so say the FTSE 100 was at 5050.60 when the application was processed, would that be my entry point) or is it within the ISA and I decide when…
