Halifax Regular Saver Query
I opened the 10% Halifax Regular Saver and made an initial deposit of £250. This went through on the 20th of July (deadline day). My query is, can I top that up to £500 (max monthly deposit) and then start an SO for £500 for the next 11 months? Or would that next payment of £250 be classified as my 2nd monthly payment?

YBS Charity donation deducted from interest
Hi I have a YBS regular saver that's a year old so I've just been paid interest. They have deducted a "Charity donation" from my interest. What's that all about!? I'm sure I never would have agreed to that! (Not that I don't support charities, but I want to choose who I give my money to, not them!). Is this normal?!…

Banks with Negative Outlook
I was reading about the top ten savings accounts on this site today, and although the first three have excellent rates of interest (1. Kaupthing EDGE 6.55%, 2. Birmingham Midshires 6.52%, and 3. Bradford and Bingley 6.51%), looking at FitchRatings.com - banks 1&3 has a "Negative" Outlook and 2 is unlisted. I am not sure…

KAUPTHING-Security with two accounts??
If one has the £35K max in the savings account and then opened the fixed rate account paying over 7% are both accounts covered by the new guarantee? I'm sure I have read somewhere - on here probably - that if a bank did get into difficulties the £35K rule would apply to the one person's name even if they had two accounts…

Totally confused about this Saving Lark!
Hi, So I have about £6/7000 which I'm thinking of transfering out of an ancient account, into some sort of decent account which can earn me some cash. I'm not really up for risky business so that counts investing out. I was reading the money fountain page, and got confused on about the third line. I wanted to put the money…

Why would you want to save?
Simple question really... Reasons not to save.. (a) life is short and finite. Why save? spend now (b) If you save then you might not enjoy life to the full (c) When you retire, the state will give you no or little aid whilst others who have squandered or have no money saved will be assisted (d)Saved money decreases in value…
