icesave, anglo-irish, etc..
I hold some savings accounts with 2 foreign institutions, Anglo-Irish Bank and Icesave (part of Landsbanki), both authorised by the FSA and protected by the FSCS. These institutions, however, have opted for the 'passport scheme' which allows them to have some of the compensation covered by their home country. My question…

RBS Group Shares. Hold? Sell?
First time I've posted on this section so hope I'm breaking no rules seeking a little advice from others on this. I've a few hundred RBS group shares from a matured sharesave scheme (should have cashed em in straight away!) and wonder what others expect to happen to the price over the next year or so. It's gradually worked…

Advice on shares
My father in law passed away on 30th March without leaving a will. His paperwork has been a mine field of confusion. He has ISAs, PEPS etc but we have now found share certificates for TSB, BT, International Power and Rolls Royce. It looks like that the combined share value is approx £6k less than Oct 2007. His widow would…

It's ISAs in Spring time again! Coming to this part of the forum after a long time, I see by ISAs the talk is all of cash ISAs. When is next issue of index-linked savings certificates?
I've only got into this form of tax free savings recently... The NS&I site says there can be several issues of these certificates each year, but they don't say when the next one will be. Does anyone know when the next 3-year issue of the index-linked certificates is likely to be?

Living on the company dime - how to invest income?
A few months ago I began a new career in the aerospace industry. I will be spending 10-11 months of the year out of the country, with 100% of expenses paid by my employer. I am paid hourly, but should (read as, "so far I have...") average $1,200 per week take-home pay. I'm 23 years old, have no rent/mortgage. The only…

Just would like to know the current thoughts of people who believe Jim Rogers is some sort of messiah and would have followed his constant bullish rants on the commodity bull run and invested in various etfs in the softs sector. See that sugar, cotton, coffee and wheat are absolutely dropping like stones now. This sector…

IS THIS A GOOD RETURN? DO THESE SAVINGS ACCOUNTS STILL HAVE A PLACE IN TODAY'S MARKET??? We have been investing £30 per month for 14 years and 16 months ago increased this amount to £50. I'm not sure whether this was the right thing to do now. Lastest account summary reads as follows: Total payments since account started:…
