What to do with the money
Hi MoneySavers! My university course entitles me to a bursury of £3k/year. But I don't see the point in just spending it all on student life?? Unfortunately a savings account isn't an option for me, neither is anything relying on interest as a reward...which narrows down my options... How can I put this money to good use?

Trading on the Stock Market .. Where do I start?
I confess to not knowing much about the stockmarket, but having come into a little money I wouldn't mind having a little dabble to the tune of about £5,000.00 .. Maybe even £10,000.00 if I feel that confident. Im guessing I will never gain the information I need to do trading solely on my own, and bearing this in mind I…

Blooming Barclays Stockbrokers!
I thought that when my mum died in November 2004 and her account was closed in March 2005 that the problems with Barclays Stockbrokers would be over. I was wrong! Briefly, whilst my mum was alive I handled her afairs and virtually every contact I had with Barclays Stockbrokers was a disaster! They repeatedly failed to ask…

Halifax web saver - can't deposit at branch?
We have a Halifax variable web saver account (5.01 gross p/a). We opened the account, transferred £1, and then a week later deposited £50 in cash at our local branch - there was no problem with this. Last week we deposited £100 at our branch, and the cashier chastised us for doing so - apparently the internet saver…

Financial Services Compensation Scheme - Interest payments
Please note that if a bank goes out of business, that interest accrued on deposits held there will be paid by the FSCS until the date at which the bank goes out of business. If it takes the FSCS six months or more before it pays you out, then you will not earn interest on the monies during that interim period.

Savings accounts I can't easily 'see'.....
