I really need some advice please. My children are 18, 16 and 13. 16 years ago my husband and I took out Baby Bonds with a Friendly Society, we paid in the maximum amount at the time and set them to run until the children were 21. B&B good news for savers...
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601085&sid=ai.txRN0S1mk&refer=europe ... wouldn't be happy if a long term shareholder though, bit like having to sell a prized antique to pay the electricity bill !! reminds one of someone who makes it "big" from a modest house to a mansion, then few years later ends up back where…

Does Drip-Feeding A Fund Lower The Risk? Plus Annual Charges Question
Would pound cost averaging lower the risk of a high risk fund, and also would it be a good entry into funds currently in, or approaching a bear market (i.e. commercial property and financial)? The thought being you would be able to buy more for your money which would benefit on the upswing. The effect would probably be…

Better to have interest monthly or yearly if compounding?
I always assumed it was better to have interest paid monthly if the interest was going to be added onto the balance and not touched, as then you earn interest on your interest. i.e compounding. Right or wrong? Why, on the moneysupermaket website, is the Coventry BS online saver offers an option of earning 6.51% on savings,…

Fixed rates and the economic slowdown
Over the past few days there has been a lot of press about slowed growth, increased inflation, etc etc in the near future. Some, such as the Times, recommends going over to tracker mortgages to save the most when the base rate falls. I don't have a mortgage, and I'm not an economist, but I do have savings and I like my…

Best return on £400 per month? (safely)any ideas?
We have used both our ISA allowances for this year and after offsetting our mortgage, now have approximately £400 per month to place into a high interest account. We would like relatively easy access to it and would like it to be in a low risk/high return investment (not asking to much!!). Any ideas welcome! Thanks.
