Stupid Question?
I have had a cash ISA for a few years now and having recently checked its interest rate I am in the processes of swapping it from one account to another that pays a better rate with but with the same provider. My question is; usually my interest is credited every March so what will happen to my interest earned upto date?…

£200-£400 per month
Hi I have a min of £200...max £400..... per month "spare cash" ...now then, I also have a bad debt/loan of just under £9k (interest frozen), which, if I pay off in full, attracts a 40% discount....my logic is to carry on paying the minimal repayment amount on the debt (at the mo, only £24 pm) and save the £5400 lump sum as…

How Safe is your/my bank ?
Hi, Might at first seem a bit of a daft question this, but can anyone advise me of where I can research how much individual banks have in reserve, as i'm trying to understand the probability of them going under in the event of a severe economic downturn. I've done some initial research into how the banking system works,…

Icesave - any catch?
OK I've been deliberating for a while about who to use for a "high interest" account to dump £35k into and probably an additional few hundred quid every month. Basically I want monthly interest and no penalties for withdrawals. Icesave seem the best bet. Tbh I'm wary because of the sums of money involved and the fact it's…

I think I've been a fool
I've been a bit too busy opening new accounts I think and missed something. I opened a Nationwide regular saver this week and immediately transferred £250 into it from my flexaccount. I have some DD's due to go out on Tuesday and some money due in externally to cover these on the same day. I seem to recall reading HOWEVER…

Financial Services Compensation Scheme
I know that if your bank/building society goes belly up, it is the total of all accounts that gets assessed for compensation purposes. But what happens if, say, you have savings with SAGA (who are financed by Birmingham Midshires), and you also have savings with Birmingham Midshires (who are owned by Halifax), and you also…

R85 R105
Hi I am selling my appartment in the UK, and want to live in France 9 months a year, 3 in the UK. I am not working, and in my 50's. I was going to give my building society a R105, and claim gross interest, which would work out at £7,300 per year interest. But I am having second thoughts. If I did, I would be eligible to…

How does Icesave work?
Can you explain this direct debit thing to me please.I'm used to sending money by BACS which takes three days. I opened an account last week and asked for £250 to be transferred. Tesco Instant Access Account
I have just opened the above account and it said it had an introductory rate of 6.3% as an opening bonus. It is now showing at 5.75% - what is the current rate for a new investor? It mentioned something about getting 500 plus 500 clubcard points. I am now confused as to the correct rate and whether I can get the points.
