Pension Wise cold calling
I recently called the govt Pension Wise service to arrange an appointment. Doing so reminded me that a few months previously I had a cold call from someone claiming to be from PW. Do PW cold call people they know to be over 50, or was it scammers? I always tell cold callers that I'm not interested and put the phone down.

Tax on DC pension drawdown
This may be a stupid question, but here goes. Since we get tax relief on private and DC pension contributions, does that mean we get taxed on it during drawdown (excl. the 25% tax free portion) regardless of whether the drawdown sum is less than the personal tax allowance for the year?

Is a decreasing PIP a concern with DB?
My annual pension savings value has decreased compared to last year. I understand this indicates a decrease in the value of the pension portfolio. My personal contribution has not changed so this is due to market performance and possibly employer funding less. I am not near retirement, in general do I need to be concerned…

Looking to clog popping time and spouse's income.
When I retired from work at 60, we knew that my wife, who is 2 months older than I would have to wait to 65 to get a pension on my contributions, we decided that she would pay voluntary contributions, so she had a pension in her own right. We are now over 80 and I am trying to gain some sense of what her income might be,…

I have two direct benefit pensions both of which are in payment. In both cases, if I die within five years of starting the pension, my wife (otherwise my estate) would receive a lump sum for any pension that has not been paid in the first five years. This is in addition to the 50% widow's pension which is paid in any event…
