I have accrued 46 years of national insurance contributions towards my state pension I am due to retire in September 2016. The state pension changes to a fixed rate of £144 in April 2016. The total of my state pension calculations for 2016 will be LESS than the new fixed rate state pension. Question Does this mean that any…

Is it worth it?
Please correct me if I am wrong. My current employer has auto-enrolled me into a pension plan with Standard Life. My employer pays contributions. So far judging from the YTD on my last wage slip they have paid £55 and I have paid £27. My question is this: why is everyone leaving or "opting out" > If my employer is…

recoup the costs of contributing to a pension
I hope this isn't taboo, if it is, I am very sorry. Would anyone know how long one would have to live (median average) to recoupe the cost of years of pension contributions. I know for some it may not be the best way to think of pension, but it would give me better understanding of pensions relative to other investments.…

I've been paying into a stakeholder pension with HSBC for about 5 years after setting it up while employed by a company. That company no longer exists and I (obviously) no longer work there. But the name of that company is still on my pension statements. Is this a problem? It only occurred to me recently that this company…

Pension Contributions - is it wise to pay as much as possible into pension?
I have recently turned 30, last year I took the time to research pensions and soon discovered I have been a bit foolish not contributing earlier in my career. That changed nearly a year ago and I have been contributing 10% of my salary, which my employer matches. I am a 40% rate tax payer and my contributions come out of…

Hi experienced members, I had big debate with my family. Can't find answer, can't persuade each other. hence turn to this forum for a second opinion.
