Can I transfer my opted out SERPS Pension from Windor Life
And should I? It doesn't seem to be doing so marvelously, and quite frankly, the company is about as communicative as my garden wall. I opted out of SERPS back in 1988 through General Portfolio aka GAN aka Windsor Life. I'm 49 now. Can I switch my pension to say someone likeScottish Widows or would the charges make that…

SIPP/Financial Advisor
I have a number of Personal Pensions with various companies that I'd like to consolidate into a SIPP (performance of some is poor, and with limited choice to change, and charges are also too high in some cases. I think the SIPP would address this and also give me some flexibility given my income/retirement plan). My…

SSAS looking for a good stock broker - Suggestions?
The SSAS, of which I am a Managing Trustee, has just sold a commercial property and has some funds to invest. Some of the dividend yields on some of the stocks in the FTSE 100 are beginning to look attractive - even if they are halved! Certainly they look very much better and more attractive, than the interest gained from…

SERPS etc
Hi - I'm new here and am looking for some advice...... I opted out of SERPS back in the late 1980's and had a personal pension plan which I put on hold in the mid 90's. I joined a large company a few years later and took out their company pension plan - it was a good one. I'm now in my early forties and am wondering what…

ISA's and Declared Savings
Many years from now, (hopefully) when I may need to move into a care home I have heard that any savings held within an ISA are NOT taken ino account as ones savings when you may need to fund your own care as opposed to your local council paying?. Is that so? fj

The long and short of it is that HSBC arranged an…

My dad is due to retire in October and will be receiving 30,000 in a lump some. He owes 52,000 off of his house. Transfer with-profits pension to HL?
I've had a personal pension with Scottish Life (a Talisman policy) since 1987. I stopped paying into it in 2000, and my most recent statement (from September last year) showed a "plan value" of £46k, and a "with profits" fund of £68,500. I noticed that the "plan value" had only increased by less than 6% during the previous…
