And should I? It doesn't seem to be doing so marvelously, and quite frankly, the company is about as communicative as my garden wall.
I opted out of SERPS back in 1988 through General Portfolio aka GAN aka Windsor Life. I'm 49 now.
Can I switch my pension to say someone likeScottish Widows or would the charges make that prohibititive? Or should I just opt back into S2P?

Yes.And should I?
depends on whether its best to or not.It doesn't seem to be doing so marvelously,
not many investments have done over the last year or two.quite frankly, the company is about as communicative as my garden wall.
They are closed for that sort of business and unable to give advice. So, they have little that they can communicate. Can I switch my pension to say someone likeScottish Widows or would the charges make that prohibititive?
The Scottish widows personal pension is a good product. Their stakeholder is pretty poor value in comparison. It may or may not be better than the Windsor life plan. Until a cost analysis is done there is no way for us to say.Or should I just opt back into S2P?
Ideally you should have contracted in at 45 (or 40 if female). So, it would make sense to do that now. Although you may find you are already contracted in automatically.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Ask for some info from Windsor Life:
1.Current value
2.Transfer value
3.What the money is invested in
4.Other investment options
5.Charges payable
Come back with the info and we can take a better look.Trying to keep it simple...0
