Made banana bread yesterday and it's rubbish. Dry and looks :( Used stork margarine instead of butter..... don't think I used enough bananas....they weren't very ripe but I was in a hurry....backfired good and proper.. What can I do with it? Apart from feeding the birds.:D Answers on a postcard:rotfl::rotfl:

Christmas pudding
Two quick questions Is it to late to make Delia’s Christmas Pudding ? I’ve been asked by family members and a few friends if I could do them a pudding this year. Think Delia spoiled them last year !! Seriously though is it possible/safe to make a double batch or treble batch and then divide them into smaller containers?…

Weekly Flylady Thread 11th December 2017
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

No Magic Money Tree....
...is my new Mantra! Following the price hike in Lloyds bank charges, I am being super uber careful not to go into my OD if humanly possible. We are making lots of jokes about taking one for the team, but what do you do if you need to cut back hard and you are already the most frugal person you know :/ ? I've started an…

Childhood Christmas Presents
Have greatly enjoyed reading the thread about what childhood everyday dishes people remember eating. My Dad grew up in the late 40s, early 50s in a large family, rationing was still in force and there was little money to spare. He tells how the Christmas presents they received were second hand that might be repaired and…

laundry scoop
What do you use for a power laundry scoop? They no longer give them away in the boxes and the last time I sent off for one, they sent me a paper version! Currently I am using a small cup cooking measure, it now needs replacing. What does everyone else use?

Vacuum replacement
I'm looking around for something to replace my 25 year old Electrolux which has been showing signs of possible problems for when it actually goes. Normally I'd be buying a Henry, but wouldn't fit into new hall cupboard easily. New home doesn't require any jet-propelled, fancy-shmanciness. No kids or pets and the floors are…

Is the 'date' to eat by, use by etc. more confusing than helpful?
I'm wondering just how useful the guidance dates are on the food we buy these days. Last week on the same day I bought a bunch of perfectly edible bananas that had a label on saying 'not ripe until the 6th December', I got them on the 4th and they were absolutely fine. I also from the same shop bought two reduced…

Bills
Hi, hope this is the right forum? I am very worried about my bills. I live in a 3-bed semi and have a cat dog and a lodger. It was recommended that I have a water meter and my estimated monthly bill was £23. After a year its doubled to £50. I'm home all day but my lodger is out at work. There are 2 showers per day, the…
