Family refusing to eat shop bought now - your experiences?
On looking through this board, seen comment several times that family refuse to eat "shop bought" products anymore and want home made. I think this is wonderful news, and gives us hope for the future, our family/children do actually want to eat real food, even though it sometimes means more work for us at the moment,…

Clothes Old Style
Hi, we all seem to make shopping lists to organize our kitchens and meals, but how about our wardrobes?? I want to create a good collection of clothes, shoes, coats and accessories that will cover all occasions but not by skimping too much on quality and style. I am thinking more along the lines of having less clothes but…

Attn. parents of soon-to-be students
I got my freebie La Redoute multi-cooker yesterday, and it struck me how brilliant it would be for students self-catering for the first time. It is small (1.3L - looks enough for one good serving or two with bread etc.), very lightweight (so easily transportable), non-stick, and has a plug already fitted. It has four…

Sea Shells, Sea Shells, by the back door

Coffee
I love Starbucks. :coffee: It is my downfall. :o I have cut my habit down from a big Caramel Macchiato to a small Caffè Latte and I sneak in a small cake from M&S instead of buying an expensive cake in there. :shhh: It's not something I have everyday but it is a nice treat. :) Anyway, I brought a v small cafetiere today…

Tinned Peaches
I regularly buy certain items from the supermarket [tinned tomatoes, tuna etc etc] and tinned peaches are one of them but other than just eating them with evaporated milk thought I'd share a couple of different ways I've tried using them recently: 1. Put them in orange jelly for my son's birthday tea on holiday [makes a…

Old Style HM Weedkiller
Found this site which has a recipe for HM Weedkiller, which apparently works: 1 cup vinegar 1/2 cup dish soap (I presume that means washing up liquid) Put in spray bottle and top up with water. I am off to try it now and see if it works.

Household notebook (Queenie's Idea)
I noticed on another thread Queenie mentioned she had made a household notebook for her DS when he moved into a new home. I thought this would be a fantastic idea to add to the gift thread (until Martins book comes out of course ;) ) It would be useful for people moving into their first home but also for students as they…

looking after leather
My mum put my wet motorbike gloves (cost @ £80) near the radiator, now they're nackered, gone all hard and shrunk slightly. Any thoughts for saving them? I can't really afford any more. I reckon if there's a way just to soften them again, they'll be fine. )-: hope to hear from you, kind regards Alex, Manchester

WHY are you old style?......
I think that it would be very interesting to find out why we take up old style strategies. I think that it will fall into 3 main reasons, economy, ecology and healthy living and it would be useful if those reasons had a score between 1 and 10 to show their importance to you and your family. There will be some of use who…

Hi, I am starting a new job on wednesday but i will have to drive for 45 miles which means no coming home for lunch and not much time to prepare lucious stuff in the evenings.
