New Car - ICE
Once upon a time - ICE (in car entertainment) was an added extra, then the Japanese made them standard equipment. But, car catalogues were full of option for upgrades. Now, )please correct me if I'm wrong) that isn't the case, they boast about it's connectivity - blue tooth this, and MP3 that, but what if you don't what…

Children's car seats
I'm really confused about the new laws for car seats so I hope someone can clarify for me. I have 2 grandchildren who I look after 1 day a week and 1 who I have occasionally. I have a baby seat and an older child's seat that splits and can be a booster seat without the full back. I can't fit 3 full seats in my car but I…

Car rental insurance
We've returned from a city break in Northern Ireland and I had a little accident whereby I reversed into another car at traffic lights (very low speed colision, about 5mph) resulting in dents and paint scratches to both vehicles. We rented online through a company called Zest and took out their extra insurance to cover the…

Why does adding another driver to my policy make my premium drop?
Just curious Did 2 quotes, one with just myself on the policy and another with my wife on there too and there is a £47 per year lower difference between the two with her on it Sure I've missed something obvious but why would having a second person on my policy make such a difference ? Thanks

should insurance write off pay enough for a replacement car
A few days ago my car was stolen, the keys were taken by an intruder in my work (he also took my wallet, house keys). The car has been recovered by the police, and the car has been passed to a local garage by the insurer to assess the damage to the car and hopefully fix it, but as the thief is still at large with my car…

be careful with tripleqx oil
I use to be of the belief that oil is oil, and I used to always knock down anyone who used to say otherwise I used to use 5w40 oil for my VW golf, tripleqx brand that meets or exceeds VW spec. I was beginning to lose oil more and more as the years went on. Once I ended up losing 1 litre of oil after 5000 miles. It was 5mm…

£15k to buy a new car
I currently own a 6 year old Ford Fiesta and I want to trade it in and get a new model. I’m undecided as to whether I get a new Fiesta model, which I have loved, or look at other similar brands, such as Nissan, Renault or Citroen. No kids so not bothered about room in the back. Be nice to get a car that stands out.

Rubbish Kia Warranty - pay to check symptom.
Hi, I bought a Kia, and part of my buying decision was due to the longer than usual 7 year warranty. Anyway, the Car is now 3 years old, and the clutch has started slipping (mainly only in second gear if any mechanics on here). Apparently if the clutch is burnt out, this is classed as wear and tear as it is bad driving…

Looking at getting a complete set of wheels and winter tyres so that it's a…

Getting a refund from KwikFit for dodgy tyre replacement
Just got two new tyres fitted yesterday by Kwikfit and one has already gone flat! Just called out the RAC, if it is to do with a dodgy fitting (e.g. beading not done properly) how easy would it be to get my money back off them? After work the guys spoke about the legality of using your mobile phone while operating a car. Seems to be some confusion on when its legal.
