Insurance expires midnight, left it last minute :(

1 claim from Jan 2016, my car was hit while parked outside my home by another driver.
Quote from moneysupermarket.com - claim as Accident (Not at fault)
No claim discount is unaffected
as this is closest match I can find.

Cheapest provider is Hastings, I go on their site and check details, they come up with automatically as An object hit the drivers vehicle whilst it was parked

While true, an object to me is not another driver, so to clarify try their live chat - not available, call centre not available as closes at 9pm and high volume of calls.

My car is parked on my driveway, not using it tomorrow.

What are you thoughts on the assumption claim description?

EDIT: Further update having rang insurer, the claim is still on hold until they get the money from other insurer, and as a result this has gone down as my fault and no claims from 9 to 6 until money received and case closed (I now know after the claim last year that I should have claimed through the third parties and not mine!).

Which is more worrying as my renewal from 30/06/2016-29/06/17 I had it with a new insurer as non-fault, no claims as 9 as stupidly believed it was as I got paid out!

Now amended quote to reflect above and obviously quote has increased. I am right in thinking this is a financial loss due to difference in premium and I can try and claim this back, I had legal cover in place at the time - they got me excess back.

Who paid for the repairs? (Did you have to pay your excess?)

It was a write off, it was a 2004 Ford Fiesta.

My insurer paid me for my car, stupid me at time didn't know to claim off other driver. Had to use my legal cover to get my excess back as it was deducted from payout. I had a letter recently from my insurer's solicitor for details to claim back their costs.

It sounds like it is still unresolved??

Has your NCD been (maybe temporarily) affected?

Doesn't seem to be, I had it protected.

I think I will have to get in touch with them tomorrow to discuss.

Don't get too hung up on trivial detail. This is a perfectly sound description.

Yep, that's the way it work. It's not so much "no fault" as "not cost your insurer any money". And, right now, your insurer are out of pocket for that claim, because the other insurer are denying liability.
(I now know after the claim last year that I should have claimed through the third parties and not mine!).
They'll only accept your claim directly if they're admitting liability. If they were admitting liability, this would have been paid by now.

No. If it ends up on your insurer's book, then it's there because the other driver's not admitted liability, and their insurer are not paying. If they're not paying for the claim, you're not getting any side costs paid...

You can't say your NCD is unaffected (, though previously you posted that you had protected ncd - so at worst you should be down a "life" unless you have used up all the lives you get)

And you have an open claim to disclose as a fault claim pending liability being agreed.

It's your call whether you fess up to your current insurer who will at best want a premium alteration as you were rated based on your incorrect details.

They will find out themselves should you be involved in a claim and they check out your history)

Thanks all, makes me laugh the third-party insurer denying responsibility when I have a photo of third party on it's side after hitting my car! Also the name and badge of the police officers who attended the scene.

Will be doing online chat with Hastings to confirm everything (so i got evidence of their answers) with claim and ask them to send me a copy of new no claims bonus as the new insurer will ask.

Also got home and their old renewal which showed my accident details added, non affected yes, non = 9.

As you got reimbursed your excess from the third party insurer it looks as though liability is not in dispute.

But as your insurer still hasn't been reimbursed maybe the argument is between the insurers based on the third party not agreeing your insurer's bill!

No online chat option, phoned instead and the following was confirmed:
    Open claim for now
    My fault for now
NCD is still showing as 9 (max on their system)

Took the person's name who I spoke too and time and date of call for reference.
