Virgin Money early redemption fee
Hi -we are due to move as soon as lockdown ends (whenever that may be) and before this, had a mortgage agreed with our existing lender Virgin Money. On the phone last week, they informed they were no longer agreeing mortgages. Because of this, we have to go to another provider. However the sting is that we have to pay…

Nat West 'affordabilty criteria'
Has anyone else fallen foul of the Bank's affordability criteria. I have submitted an application online with them, answered several queries they lodged at me only to be told in their eyes, I can't afford a mortgage with them. I checked my budget and my maths stack up to be able to afford £440 per month easily. When…

Interest claim
I’ve seen a number of ads about claiming interest on a mortgage up to 1995. Does anyone know if this can be done someone who’s deceased?

Interest-only - for real?
I'm a little mystified by what should be good news, but I am extremely reluctant to believe it! I have an Interest-only mortgage on my main residence which has another 7 years to run. Some time ago, I called the bank's call centre and asked them the figure needed to pay off the mortgage. To my surprise, the figure I was…

Daughter being pushed to exchange - 1st time buyer in long chain
Our daughter and partner are at the bottom of a long chain as 1st time buyers. Exchange could not take place due to lockdown and despite being pushed, on the advice of their solicitors, they would not agree to an exchange and completion on the same day as government directives would be flouted on moving into the property.…

One Account (RBS) - Not changing SVR - April 2020
Hi, I have a OneAccount mortgage, yes I know I might be one of the very few left. They have still not reduced their SVR despite the 2 recent BOE base rate cuts. The rate remaining at 4.15% What is even more annoying about this is that it is an RBS product and I know that RBS have reduced their SVR on other products. I…

Mortgage relief, put pay the interest?
Hi I want to apply with my bank for a 3 month mortgage break but its somewhat confusing. Im with natwest btw and it says that they will add the 3 months of relief onto the mortgage instead of adding 3 months onto the end which is fine. What confuses me is that they will still charge interest for those months and as Im only…

SVR mortgages
Hi, First post, be kind. Been quoted a SVR of 3.59% which is 1% higher than my soon to expire fixed rate. I just wondered, with % rates so low, why is the SVR so high? I thought I would be saving money, switching onto the SVR product, clearly not. Hopefully, I will be able to find a fixed deal, portable, for less than 2%?

Halifax mistake
For the benefit of troll criticism on here. I have rewritten my point. Halifax have made a mistake calculating my mortgage payment with the interest rate reduction. It is likely they have done this to others.

Remortgage - indemnity policy
Hi all I understand I have to pay for an indemnity policy as part of the remortgage process. Is this normal? "The cost of the insurance will be paid by you either as a deduction from your remortgage proceeds or through an arrangement with your lender under the terms of your mortgage offer. The reason for arranging such an…

Variable pay and Mortgage application
Hi, I'm in the process of trying to get a 75% LTV mortgage offer after out last offer ran out at the end of Feb (buying a new build). Latest setback from broker is no lenders are taking commissions / bonus into account. Is this the case across the board? and should I sacrifice the interest rate to get an offer on the…
